just remember it. you learn by doing. when schools used to teach languages they would have students spend nearly all of the time writing in the language. so go get a simple book like the bible and try translating it into your language.

>>What's in the box? >Чтo вo этe кopoбкe? B этoй But if it's just "in the box" then you can just do "в кopoбкe" >>Can we have a table for two, please? >Moжeм имeть cтoл для двyх? Restaurant phrases in most languages are a bit special, russian is one of them You'd use a polite version of requesting something usually Moжнo cтoл для двyх/двoих? However in actual restaurant people would rather ask Ecть (cвoбoдный) cтoл для двyх/двoих? Whereas the previous one assumes that you know that there'll be vacant tables so you directly request one >>I want to ride my bicycle. >Хoчy eхaть мoй вeлocипeд. Eздить нa мoeм вeлocипeдe Colloquial version would be Пoкaтaтьcя нa вeлocипeдe >>During the summer vacation I will stay at home >Bo вpeмя кaниккл ocтaюcя дoмa. Лeтних кaникyл Я ocтaнycь дoмa (if the context is about going somewhere for the vacation) Я бyдy дoмa Я бyдy cидeть дoмa (a bit more colloquial + slightly implies that you'll be faffing at home)

>My brother asked me if he could store his canoes in my garage. Mój brat mnie spytał jeśli może składować jego kanoe w moim garażu. – Bad. - „mnie spytał” - better use „spytał mnie”. This word order sounds weird. - "If" = "jeśli", but if "if" means "whether", then you've always to use "czy".
>A fortnight ago I pranked my friend with a whoopee cushion. Dwa tygodnie temu, zrobiłem żart na mojego przyjaciela z poduszką whoopee. - dwa tygodnie temu - without comma. We don't use commas after time expressions. - "poduszką whoopee" -> "pierdzącą poduszką" (pierdzący = farting; I hear such a word for the first time; at least movie subtitles from Reverso Context have such translations)
>The garment worn by judges is called robe. Ubranie noszone sędziami jest nazywane szaty. - "noszone sędziami" -> "noszone przez sędziów" - "jest nazywane szaty" -> "jest nazywane szatami", though it sounds unnatural. "to szaty".
>Man who thought he'd lost all hope loses last additional bit of hope he didn't even know he still had. Mężczyzna, który myślał, że stracił już wszystkiej nadziei, traci ostatniego dodatkowego odłamka nadziei, o którym ani nie wiedział, że go ma. - "stracił już wszystkiej nadziei" -> "stracił już wszystkie nadzieje" or "stracił już wszelką nadzieję (singular is preferable) - "traci ostatniego dodatkowego odłamka nadziei" -> "traci ostatnią resztkę nadziei"; "additional" is redundant and sounds weird after translation; "resztka nadziei" = "rest of hope" - "o którym ani nie wiedział" -> "o której nawet nie wiedział"; "even" = "nawet"
>When applying for unemployment benefits make sure to fill in the forms correctly. Kiedy aplikujecie dla świadczeń dla bezrobotnych, upewnijcie się, że poprawnie wypełnicie formularz. - "Kiedy aplikujecie dla świadczeń dla bezrobotnych" -> "Kiedy aplikujecie o świadczenia dla bezrobotnych"

>Don't get me wrong, I'm not entirely against the idea of a conlang replacing English as the world's lingua franca. Nie zrozum mnie źle, nie jestem kompletnie przeciwko idei, że język sztuczny by wymienił język angielski jako lingua franca. - "że język sztuczny by wymienił język angielski" -> "języka sztucznego zastępującego język angielski"
>Reminder that by knowing a second language you open your world to a whole new group of people that can become new friends. Przypomnienie, że znaniem drugiego języka otworzycie wasz świat całej nowej grupie ludzi, który się mogą stać waszymi nowymi przyjaciółmi. - "przypomnienie" - "Przypominam" sounds more natural - "znaniem" - "znajomością" sounds better - "otworzycie wasz świat całej nowej grupie ludzi, który" - "otworzycie wasz świat na całą nową grupę ludzi, którzy"

Thank you very much. I tend to mess up putting words in the correct case after a verb, I guess there is no rule when to use genitive and when accusative.

first two are fine >Quero andar da minha bicicleta(?) Quero andar na minha bicicleta >Durante as férias do verão, vou ficar em casa eu também lol >>>Intermediate >Conheces a diferença entra homicídio e homicídio culposo? *homicídio involuntário but maybe it's culposo in Brazil they have a weird ass legal system >O meu irmão preguntou-me se podia armazenar as suas canoas na minha garagem "guardar" would be a better verb than "armazenar", to my knowledge "armazenar" is only really used in industrial/warehouse contexts >Há uma quinzena, fiz um prank ao meu amigo com uma almofada de whoopee >um prank *uma partida >almofada de whoopee I honestly have no idea if there is a translation for "whoopee cushion" to be honest >O vestuário usado por juízes é chamado de manto *A vestimenta usada por juízes é chamada de beca this is just me nitpicking very specific vocabulary that is not really used in day to day Portuguese >>>Hard >>Man who thought he'd lost all hope loses last additional bit of hope he didn't even know he still had. >Um homem que pensava que perdesse toda a esperança perde o último bocadinho da esperança que nem sequer sabia que ainda tinha *Homem que pensava que tinha perdido toda a esperança that's in past participle the rest is fine >>When applying for unemployment benefits make sure to fill in the forms correctly. >Quando está a candidatar-se para os benefícios de desemprego, confirme que enche todas as formas corretamente *Ao candidatar-se para benefícios de desemprego, confirma que preenche todos os formulários corretamente "encher" is about physically filling something up, when you're just writing something in a text box or whatever use "preencher" "forma" refers to a form/shape, if you're talking about a form as in bureaucratic shit you have to write use "formulário" last two sound a bit strange but seem correct
