Something very confusing is that a freeway is also a highway. All freeways are highways, but not all highways are freeways. What differentiates a freeway, and a highway, is that a freeway has no street lights, stop signs, or intersections. A highway is allowed to have these things. A lot of people say "highway" instead of "freeway", and although they're technically correct, it can cause confusion.
