If NPCs have no inner monologue does that mean they can't pray to God?
If NPCs have no inner monologue does that mean they can't pray to God?
Why pray to God, why not just trust him?
It would seem to me that if you can't pray to God then in a sense you are actually cut off from God
Talk all you want, but it would seem that God is the one who cut off communication with us.
what do you mean by inner monologue? Constantly using words? I have actively tried to avoid doing that in favor of images and other wordles thoughts.
>it would seem that God is the one who cut off communication with us.
How so? A lot of people don't feel the same
Inner monologue is your inner voice, like reading a book
Christcucks ARE the npcs
Are there people who don't have inner monologue? i wonder what that's like
I read somewhere that the ability to read silently (without mouthing the words) was very rare prior to the advent of printing press.
Inner monologue must be something of a modern ability.
words are translations of your true thoughts, feelings, experiences. An inner monologue is not that important. A person who cannot speak any language can still reason and understand the world. The only difference is that he may not convey experiences to others as easily.
They do have an inner monologue, its just dormant 99% of the time
Normally I think unsymbolically, just in pure thought. But if I occasionally use an inner monologue if I’m trying to conceptualize a math concept for instance. Mostly I use inner monologue when I think someone might be tuning into my thoughts so it’s easier to make them think that I’m thinking what they want me to think
I suppose everyone has their own relationship to God, myself I feel no need to pray, he works in ways which I cannot comprehend so I leave the God business up to him, he's a funny guy.
You heavily underestimate how important language is to maintaining our current level of understanding.
A person without any language would be functionally retarded beyond his narrow slice of acquired practical experience.
They can. They just can't found churches.
Because you know... You need to come up with what xxxxxxxx god said, it's wills, and so on, and so forth.
4channers are the biggest npcs. This place is the second biggest hivemind after reddit
Mm
Idk. I was thinking about it again, and I suppose language is a very important concept, and in a sense you could say that all peoples will use language, even if nothing is spoken and they hear no sound or inner voices. Seeing something as simple as a triangle in the mind and associating it with a mountain could be an example of language.
However, language alone is nothing compared to experience. That which you have experienced will be infinitely more enlightening to you than anything that you have read or seen, though these things can guide you in your experience.
Not sure where I'm going with this. Just rambling.
but yes language is important obviously
For our purposes, it's a sort of technology. Not one you can touch, but one which is developed (or suppressed) none the less.
A kind of measurement system or instrument you can use to encode and then quickly retrieve various abstract concepts.
Not something we could easily do otherwise, except perhaps by some extraordinary happenstance.
Language is also a sort of living organism that reproduces and evolves using humans as its hosts. Not literally, of course. But in a very close analogy.
they have no need of a god. no inner dialogue means = no deep thoughts
Yes, you are right of course. Have you heard of synesthesia btw? When people associate a number of senses together? It's that is a way that some people cope with abstract concepts like language. Such as associating a word with a certain mental image, sound, smell, taste. And these connections make their understanding of the word something somewhat different that what others who can detach the word from such things. But it also makes the words cemented in their minds, at least more difficult to forget than such a word would be to someone without it.
To an extent everyone kind of does this I suppose, because an experience is just something we understand through our senses, and then associate that with a word or groups of words.
I'm not really going anywhere with this either, but i figured it might be interesting and relevant.
I think consciousness evolves depending on the the level of complexity of a civilization, hence why we have more in common with the minds of the Romans than the minds of Europeans living in the 800s
If you can't think and articulate in certain words then you don't have access to a larger bandwidth of information and meaning
i dont disagree tbqh but the anonymous function still means it will have more resistance to hivemind than most contexts
People that are never taught a language have smaller brains and a diminished motor ability. It's very important in reality.
Yes, of course, it's very interesting. I feel a sort of synesthesia when I listen to music. Especially purely instrumental music. The sounds arrange in vague visual perceptions of shape. I suppose some people have it by an order of magnitude more.
The thing various metaphysicians describe as "spiritual vision" is a form of mastered and controlled synesthesia. Associating various perceptions with a multitude of colors or something equivalent. Like "aura viewing" or "clairvoyance" something similar. It's not actually true sight, but the effect produced is most closely analogous to sight.
Language is very important to structure thought and form coherent ideas. Without a proper framework to give form to your ideas, you can be the smartest dude in the world, but that would be entirely useless.
This is why it's extremely important to teach people proper language and grammar rules. It's puzzling how many young people these days say that to their teachers, "Mam, I get what you're saying, I just couldn't find the words to say it"
For me, it's more of a feeling of "colours" and landscapes.
hm.. with music, I don't think I often get as strong a visual response as I do with touch. I feel it more in my body, and I tend to find myself tapping and dancing to the rhythm, even if it's slow and depressing.
I feel as though the language we use today, is vastly inferior to the language used, say, 60 or so years ago. Especially in the medium of mass media, television and the internet.
When you're exposed to how people used to speak and communicate in the past, the people that are most heard today seem practically illiterate by comparison.
I feel a morphing set of shapes behind my eyes, in the center of my head. But also the physical sensations you described.
Pointing out NPCness and appealing to muh speshul Zig Forums club is the same as being an NPC. It's not enlightened. You're dull, boring and desperate for attention like them
To me, it's more than we get to see the everyday lad and lass talk nowadays, whereas 60 years ago, it was only the somewhat middle class or the rare "educated peasants"' that were recorded.
The everyman is much more literate and able to navigate through more content (thanks to online dicts and availability of literature) than in the past, but on the internet and on mass media, it's not seen as something as good as it was in the past. So most people put on a face and pretend to be dumb to fit in. The problem is that this """"new generation"""" was moulded into and born into this game of pretend so it's going to be more difficult for them to grow out of it and explore new horizons.
Because let's face it, we all pretend to be retarded on Zig Forums.
They can't pray to God but that's not why
I agree with the entirety of your post. Especially the last part kek
There's something very funny about pretending to be retarded on Zig Forums
But a lot of people take it very seriously I think
Inner voice is cool and all but I wish it would shut up sometimes
Not him but I have the same vague visual perceptions when listening to music. Do you also get the abstract thoughts involving practically every sense (sight, sound, touch, taste, etc.) I got when I was little that I couldn't hope to describe or replicate, and hear certain sounds in your head when thinking a certain way or being in a specific situation, even visualizing things in your head? The most consistent one is hearing/seeing explosions or loud airplane sounds when angry, the rest seem almost random but still bear a vague pattern. I can easily distinguish them from real sights and sounds but they're definitely there.
The morphing set of shapes is close to what I see. A memorable example was seeing jagged arrowhead shapes when hearing Ride of the Valkyries for the first time, but also stuff like blurry figures in motion. Sometimes it gets drowned out by imagining the music itself though, like looking out from a cliff or sitting in a field or cave, but it depends.
thought about it again, and I do see things when I listen to music, but what I see is usually a place or memory from when I was listening to the song and felt affected by it. No really interesting shapes or anything, which is perhaps why the touch/movement seems to feel stronger for me
being retarded is a good way to relax
i like to come spam pepes and 1 sentence posts when I'm stressed out
