I always wondered what life in San Diego was like. It seems like the only somewhat decent city in California. I’ve been to both San Francisco and Los Angeles and they were awful.

It was a good place to grow up. Not too much crime and people are friendly enough. Downtown is fucked with homeless but that's downtown. It's expensive but worth it imo. My favorite spots are Encinitas/Del Mar, pic related, Ocean Beach, and Oceanside

I mean, California cities do this stupid thing where they send their homeless and junkies downtown which makes no sense to me but what’s the issue causing the homelessness in cities even like San Diego. I mean, obviously to some extent it’s climate but that can’t be the whole story. Also, is it getting worse?

It’s filled with homeless because the West Coast loves homeless people. We like em screaming, we like em drunk, we like em junked ouT and shitting on the sidewalks. There is no punishment for petty crimes, and when you get tired of smoking meth in one of our many luxurious encampments, you can take a little time enjoying government subsidized housing and food until your dealer gets out of jail then go right back to it.

I mean what specifically is causing the homeless problem? It seems pretty clear that at least some of it is the climate drawing in homeless from all over so fair enough but I can’t believe that is even a relatively big driver compared to something else. From what I’ve seen, homelessness is mostly caused by mental health problems and drug addiction combined with high unemployment so what the fuck is going on in California, even San Diego, that has everyone going crazy and getting addicted to drugs?

It's the weather. It only gets to lows of 40°F in the winter and it's mostly sunny for most of the year. Also what said. Very disconnected from reality and progressive people in local government caters to them and it only grows the problem
