DJT - Daily Japanese Thread #2411.5

DJT is the best Japanese language learning vtuber shitposting thread on Zig Forums for むっつりスケベ共 that are interested in everything Japanese (no politics )
Japanese speakers learning English are also welcome

The only way to learn 日本語:
1.無理があんのよ
2.Don't waste time/money on ゴミ like:
-All textbooks like Genki, RTK etc.
-All mnemonics like KLCC, Kanji Damage etc.
-All online courses like Wanikani, Duolingo etc.
-All language schools, classrooms etc.
-JLPT, Kanji Kentei tests etc.
-Shitty english youtube channels, you're here to learn Japanese (日本語の森 is good)
-Awful anki decks(only 2k/6k from the OP and a simple yomichan mining deck are good)
-Spending 20 hours on Anki daily (you shouldn't spend more than 1-2 hours as a beginner and 30 minutes max after a few months, spamming easy is fine)
-Pitch accent(doesn't exist, you can say words however you want youtube.com/watch?v=Jb7DRvot9Uc )
-Learning how to write on paper (if you really want to waste time on this do it later once you know the basics)
Avoiding these beginner traps will cut down your learning time considerably to less than 5 years if you learn every day and never give up
3.youtube.com/watch?v=3UV8OZj2olg
4.Spend a few days getting familiar with hiragana and katakana
5.A few months of Anki 6k vocabulary and your favorite grammar guide while reading something easy on the side
6.A few years of reading, listening, watching vtubers, shitposting in /djt/ and having your posts corrected by Jap flags, googling stuff you don't know and you're done!
7.Move out to Japan (optional)
8.Realize there's always more to learn and the ride never ends

ohayou gozaimasu desu wa!

I've just started, I hope I'll make it this time. Two years ago I learned kana and then stopped because I didn't know how to do kanji, now I am learning them through vocabulary with the core 2k/6k words anki deck, just ten new words a day for now because I have other things, but I plan to raise it after my last exam. Good luck to me.

kore ga...nani ka

Has anki ever just automatically reset in the middle of a session for anyone else? I just had 3 new cards left and maybe 20 overall, then it just reset to a new day with a brand new set of 12 cards in the middle of a review. This is the second time it's done this and it really pisses me off, cause for all I know it's just skipping the remained of the new cards.

Close your mouth
Go to sleep

What?

not closing anything, dumb pollock

GO TO SLEEP

Are you just trolling or does time-of-day fuck with anki?

GO TO SLEEEEEP

the day in anki resets at 8 am for me. you can change it.

Did you sleep well????????

Ohhh, yeah my reset time is at 4 am and that's exactly when it reset.
Thanks.

永遠に眠らせてやる

Why are you studying Japanese at 4am?

I don't know.

This is weird. I set it to 9 am and now it's giving me a very odd review: 12 new cards ( my usual daily new number) but only 9 review cards. Guess I'll just accept this as being an odd day.

Well, I hope you at least learnt some new words.
I have a basic question, what's the difference between the し and よん pronunciations of 四?

If you're directly asking me, I really don't know. All I know is they're both 4 and that よん inspires the version for talking about 4 things.

I was asking in general, thanks for the reply!

One more anki question: What happens if you start and never finish a review? Do the new cards that you didn't touch just get recycled into the next day?

GO TO SLEEP

It's the same as if you didn't even show up that day. Stuff will just get added to the end of your current queue.

>I never really had to study english like I'm studying japanese as far as I can remember.
You hardly have to "study" Japanese as well, the only real exception being learning to read. There is no reason to sit there with grammar resources for months and months.
