If you have done so, some stories or advice would be greatly appreciated.

bump for you =)

I will tell you but in the future.

I moved to Japan on a whim because I had the opportunity to do so, even though I didn't know the language/anything about Japanese culture

Where are you thinking of? Sometimes I dream of moving to England.

You're already dead

I'm actually saving up to move to japan or south korea for a while, how was it there?

When he die HA

Japan or South Korea, im a music producer and I have some unreleased songs with major artists from both countries, decided to move there for a while to network like a madman and make as much music as possible with all the artists I have on my list. I want to try and make it big as a succesfull music producer in south korea.

at first i wanted to laugh and tell you you're retarded but i hope you make it. make sure you have your visa sorted out, i don't know how it is in korea but in japan they don't fuck around with visa overstayers, you will be banned from the country for 5 years

I liked it a lot. I was in Osaka, so it was a little cheaper than Tokyo, but the people were nicer, the food was better, and in my opinion there's more cool stuff in and around Kansai than Kanto.

What kind of music? I’m going to be a lawyer so I would have to work London biglaw or if I’m lucky get an in-house position at a PE and VC firm of something.

Osaka was fucking sweet. I enjoyed that a little more than Tokyo. It seemed more SOVLFVL.
NB: I personally hate the SOVL meme but Zig Forums.

I'm planning on doing this in March next year. Been saving up 8 years. Would have done it this year but the Chinese plague.

Do you think Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka would be a good week trip? I also want to go to a traditional hot springs inn in between two of the cities in the countryside

It'd be a busy week, but you could probably swing it. There are differences between Osaka and Tokyo, but if you're only going to be in each for a few days I'm not sure I'd recommend it. I personally would just stick around Osaka/Kyoto, but I'm heavily biased

a week is a little short, remember you have to ride the shinkansen to and from tokyo so you'll lose a day realistically. i would stay the whole week in kansai since there are more cities to explore without having to travel too far. if you're in tokyo you're just surrounded by more tokyo.

I’m fine having things left or see and do, may give me a reason to come back again. But I’d like to see all three.

if you're planing to come again either way why not concentrate on one area each trip? i can understand wanting to see as much as possible but to me it seems like a waste of valuable time to travel so much when inside the country, especially when you have no more than a week to spend

I think for a lot of Americans the shinkansen would be an attraction in and of itself

that's true. i also find it pretty sick but it get's old after riding it for 2 hours

Fair enough. There's actually not too much sightseeing to do in Osaka itself - you could probably get it done in a day or two. The food/bars are the really fun part, I think

Because I’m not sure if I would.

I won’t have the means to go until I finish law school, and one I fee comfortable enough with my finances I’ll have more money than time. You get 4 weeks but I don’t want to take too much consecutively.

if that's the case i'd try to shoot for more than a week. 10 or 12 days maybe. when i went it was for 10 days and i've also visited both kansai and tokyo, it was a pretty tight and busy schedule

I could try, especially if I take advantage of weekends to book end it and maybe also do it before a week with a Monday holiday

sound like a plan. when are you trying to go? japan has closed its borders for now to a lot of countries America included i believe

I went to Tokyo for business, I got hired by a company there for a region sales job. My contract ended before covid so thank god for that. I'll sign another contract when this shit ends.

jelly, how was your salary like

Not for a while, I won’t start law school until Fall 2022, and then I have three years there. Many of the law schools I’m looking at have semester exchange programs with Waseda in Tokyo, but I’ll probably decide to do one in Europe instead.

I'd do two weeks if possible. I thought it was a one time trip for me so I wanted to make sure I saw as much as I could as possible without feeling overwhelmed. I also planned like a retard and missed a sumo festival which are held at only certain times of the year.

The bullet train is a great way to transit between cities but DO get the rail pass BEFORE you depart.

I’ll have to see what people at the firm are doing, I plan to come back to the one I’m working at now as a case assistant and a partner I work under took a week, so I’ll have to see if people ever take longer

do you go to work or something? what are you doing until you enroll? you still have two years

$3000 plus commissions, I lived in an apartment building with the other workers so I only paid for internet, water, electricity, food, clothes. It was okay I still saved up a lot of money to bring back home.
