we were founded by holy orders like the Knights Templar...
Did you know Portugal is a Crusader country?
So was basically every Christian Iberian Kingdom.
what would reconquista leaders think of modern iberia?
Yes, and?
they'd only feel pure disgust
>they'd only feel pure disgust

if only you know how bad things really are
No we were not.
We were founded by a half-Burgundian/Half-Galician count, unaffiliated to any religious order.
Also, the Holy Orders employed in the Portuguese Reconquista were the Orders of Santiago, Alcantara, Calatrava and Aviz, and to a lesser extent, the Hospitaliers.
The Order of Crist (Order of the Templars after it was cool) was only established AFTER the Portuguese Reconquista had ended, and was mostly involved in the Imperial overseas expansion.
because 90% of the population nowadays look like north africans
>t.immigrant
That explains why its such a lazy rathole

No, the Templars were usually the forefront of the reconquista, names like Gualdim Pais, or Martim Moniz were all templars:
en.wikipedia.org
way before the end of the portuguese reconquista
Is that pic the medieval festival of Santa Maria da Feira or is it another one?
Gualdim Pais became a Templar AFTER leaving on a crusade to the Holy Land, not during his service to the Portuguese Crown.
Martim Moniz was a lesser unlanded Knight, with no ties to the Templars either. In fact he died before the first templars even settled in Tomar.
Names like Paio Peres Correia (Grandmaster of the Order of Santiago) on the other hand were the forefront of the Reconquista. He was the one comanding the armies who took subjugated the entire Algarve and decisively won the reconquista.
in my game portugal doesn't exist, what am I missing out on?
Have they not fixed the broken vikings yet?
>Gualdim Pais became a Templar AFTER leaving on a crusade to the Holy Land, not during his service to the Portuguese Crown.
That's irrelevant when he became a Templar, he fought in the portuguese reconquista as a Templar till he dies, like thousands of others.
I am the broken vikings.

>Literaly only had a village and a castle by the time of the foundation of the Kingdom of Portugal
>Were given the task of defending the rear lmao
>Only gained a seat of Power after the Grandmaster (Previously knighted a knight of Portugal after serving under the King) served in the holy land and get the title there.
>Gained a hanful of territories in the rear almost as a favour to the Grandmaster who was close friends with the king and served him well before becoming a Templar
>Their lands are dwarved by the lands of Santiago, Calatrava and S.John of the Hospital
Their role was Meh at best.
