Scorsese is revered and popular for a reason. He's a fantastic director, and goodfellas is unironically my favorite movie of all time for multiple reasons.

Sometimes people are contrarian for the sake of being so, not for reasons of preference. It clouds your judgement in a way. Agreed, in fact I think one of the most appealing and engaging parts of his movies IS the flow, the way things transition coupled w/ the soundtrack and dialogue, he has a knack for pacing things along. I would say his formula is worn out and you know what to expect from almost all of his movies, maybe not the most original, but it's good overall.
