Took a break from /film/ for a while and read a lot of books and got some of my extracurricular shit together. Went through a few threads in the archive earlier in the week and I'm ashamed to say that I sorta missed this place. Hope you are all well.

how broken are letterboxd's ratings? are they completely useless or do they help you decide which film to watch next?

Good for exploration but don’t trust reviews, they are an extremely left skewed community and often that can influence the popularity or rating of a film.

I've seen 30 films in the last 30 days.

The actual prose reviews can be pretty interesting. The star rating is pretty worthless though, every buzzy film from last year is 4.0+ while Greenaway films average around 3.5.

I've watched maybe 6.
