Ive had plenty of irish teachers and some irish classmates. They were all pretty chill and fun. Whats so bad about them? Ive never seen anything that could be branded as “unclassy” or “peasantly” from them, whatever that means

I don’t see them like that. There’s a stereotype that the Irish live in the countryside in castles and cottages and the grass’s very green with rainbows in the sky. And the famine. I remember reading a fictional book about the Irish famine in school. Sounded horrific and I’m glad those people got to emigrate.
I have Irish ancestry and Idk how they lived, I never dug too deep into it. I know they came in the mid-1800s. Maybe they were affected.

There are a lot of, just most of them don't admit it and try to hide their roots, that's the thing. If an American is 3/4 Polish and 1/4 Irish, he will identify himself as Irish American.

I don't think the irish are that peasantly. Rural irish folk maybe but then the same applies to rural british folk.
I do think it's sad that they've turned themselves into a neoliberal tax haven with property prices even worse than here but that's their choice, I'm sure they'll be alright
