The chairman of Japan's cosmetics DHC has caused controversy over his "disgusting" remarks. Degrading Koreans in Japan, DHC said only "pure Japanese" are used as models.

According to BuzzFeed Japan on the 16th, DHC Chairman Yoshida Yoshiaki said in an article posted on the official DHC online mall website last month, "For some reason, almost all of the models that Suntory is using are Korean-Japanese."

"The model used by the DHC is pure Japanese in every way," he added.
Yoshida was criticized for his anti-Korean remarks, such as describing Koreans in Japan as "pseudo Japanese" in an article posted on his site in February 2016.

At the time, Yoshida wrote, "Those who were naturalized as Japanese and tried to make a group of Koreans in Japan by swearing or ganging up with Japan are pseudo-Japanese .

"If there are many Koreans living in Japan in the political, bureaucratic, media, and legal circles, it will have a serious impact on people's lives," he said. "There is no need for pseudo-Japanese."

The vast majority of immigrants in Japan are East Asians.

There are over 2 million koreans, 1 million chinese, but since japanese citizenship doesn't register etnicity like the USA there aren't any reliable data on it.

Even so, Japan's foreign born population is much smaller than countries in North America and Western Europe. While they do have immigrants, they're a very small percentage of the population. The question is why that's the case.
