Why is this movie so underrated compared to Scorsese's other works? I find it weird how despite being the one he won best director and best picture for, and one of his biggest hits, it's so underdiscussed compared to Taxi Driver, Casino and Goodfellas. I'd say it's easily his best
The Departed

It's fairly bland and not very stylish.
Literally has like 8.5 on imdb. It's also inferior remake, the "symbolism" is retarded, the passage of time is badly illustrated, the romance is dull, the plot is contrived and stupid, the performances are passable and Wahlberg is the highlight.
It's too unconventional.
Has a great flow and is easy to watch. Classic humor, entertaining characters, it has everything.
Vera Farmiga is so fucking hot in this
>"No one gives it to ya. You have to take it."
>Gimme Shelter fully kicks in with that sweeping pan into the market
Kino opening
Discaprio is probably the worst actor they could've picked for that role and the movie would objectively become 40% better by just removing every scene Vera Farmiga was in and keeping only the elevator scene. That's where her story should've ended.
Pure kino
>being this retarded and contrarian
Not him but DiCaprio tries too hard in every role.
The spotlight dissolves when he Damon texting in his jacket pocket are legitimate, artistic kino.
Matt Damon ruins every film he's in.
It's his most overrated movie ever. Not terrible but the plot is quite forgettable, and the editing sometimes is very distracting.
Give me one reason why Vera and Leo characters ever became a thing.
Oh look, Matt told her not to put her photo up in his apartment for a valid reason in his mind and she didn't say anything but
>this poor mentally ill boy noticed my photo and asked about it, he totally didn't come all this way to my apartment to have sex with me, what a charming and absolute chad... Better give him sex and take a dump on what little character value I had.
At least she and Matt had some development.
Moving on to dicaprio, he looks constipated and about to open the floodgates throughout the entire film. I'm not saying he's a bad actor but his performance was unbelievable and ruined any immersion for me. Every scene he's in he's in complete shambles. Give it a break, JFC.
^legitimate autism
departed is bullshit .. wooden and forgetable damon makes it worst
>It's his most overrated movie ever.
Goodfellas
I think DiCaprio is the most replaceable actor of all time. You could literally have anyone else play his roles in his movies and they'd be better.
It really weirded me out how she cheated on Matt and passed off Leo's baby as his. Do women really do that, so easily?
Did the one shot of the rat really ruin the whole film's reputation?
Still better than Departed, and less praised, or at least talked about.
>Wahlberg is the highlight
this is probably the biggest sin a movie can make
why would a rat be on the edge of a nice high rise apartment like that
How does the cat learn to dance?
>That's what the niggas don't realize. If I got one thing against the black chappies, it's this: No one gives it to you. You have to take it.
As a black guy: Hell yea
And then the one black guy in it gets head. Based Martin
He's a legit movie star
I don't think she's comparable to IRL women. They could do such things but not with whatever is presented in the film since the film lacks any meaningful action or sensible justification taken by her. Her character is an abomination and poorly developed. Only good thing about this movie is Jack Nicholson and Matt Damon. Even that was turning to shit near the end by muddying their relationship for no reason.

MICRO PRAW SESSORS
>"You're trash, Billy! Just do what we say"
>"welp, my senpai has been murdered"
>staredown with Matt Damon then walks away after murdering him
I have no positive or negative feelings towards Marky Mark in general but why was his performance in this movie so revered? He didn't do jack shit
it's very popular and memey, wtf are blabbering about? it's a highly flawed clusterfuck, literally beautiful mess: the movie. i love it... costello is the most unhinged wacko ever put on big screen
