Brazilian movie "Divine Love" on Mubi, how good is it?

Attached: drfb2OVV6mKnJqY4EUl6OHREk2l.jpg (1280x1920, 134.84K)

Watched this recently on YouTube. Pretty bleak American realist docu-drama that uses real life drunkards on skid row. The background story on the two guys is pretty depressing.

Is film a lazy modern medium?

To create, film takes more effort than any other modern artform (video games are not an artform).
To consume, they take the least amount of effort.
The filmmaker is not lazy, but the film viewer is.

this except videogames are the highest form of art

Why does the poster have a twitter logo?

obsessed

>any other modern artform
Yes, see, modernity has a way of being lazy wholly. Anime and vidya even more lazy probably.

It is lazy in comparison to art.

on the contrary, the modern world is less lazy than any period is history. Living in the wake of the scientific and technological revolution, more emphasis is placed on working. Did you know that European serfs had more time off than your average office worker?
The only problem is that what most people work for worthless crap. For the hours and hours they work, it's mostly for nothing worthwhile.
Film, and the children of film (television, animation [ie. anime] and streamed media) are the result of this working world. An artform which requires no energy to consume. In which you put more effort selecting what to watch than actually watching it. Conversely, it takes a tremendous amount of energy to create. Not just a lot, but a diverse range of efforts; business, technical, creative, etc. It can be argued that video games take more effort to produce, but video games are not an artform.
It is for this reason I both agree and disagree that film is a lazy medium.

The Brown Sneed

Some films require patience and a need to think, lots of great films aren't passive viewings, but I'm thinking the entire film.

what are some other arthouse films similar to the film Parastite (it's from south korea kinda obscure but really good)

The Host, Memories of Murder
All films we're not allowed to like any more because the director's most recent film happened to get popular

> kinda obscure

Not really, I've always said it's one of the better mainstream films that caught on, but prefer Chang-dong and other Asian directors much more.
The Host, Memories of Murder, Snowpiercer, Okja, Mother &
Oldboy, Lady Vengenace, Mr. Vengenance, and Handmaiden are all good intros to Asian cinema.

>it's from south korea kinda obscure
it's not obscure rodent american fuck don't post here again
if you want obscure movies watch stalker or au hasard balthazar

Neither of those are 'obscure'

Obscure is:
The Arch
Han Ye
Art of Vision
Minamata
David Perlov's Diary
etc. stuff with less than 500 votes on IMDB

Is it Godard’s best?

So much this!

I exclusively watch the deepest cuts of under 10 review films on amazon prime now and it feels great knowing that I'm one of the few people on the planet that get to experience these films =)

It's tied with Pierrot le Fou for me

Why can't barinlets read sarcasm?
