Eight hour-long episodes of women screaming

>Eight hour-long episodes of women screaming.
>All storylines are non-chronological, cutting across frequently in the same episode.
>No tension because it’s a universe where literally everybody is a god.
>”Muh Destiny”

This was mediocre at best.

It was a good adaptation of short stories if you look past terrible miscast of characters.

I agree it plays true to the books. But it’s plagued with deus ex machina up the wazoo. Only real reason I want to watch this series is because I feel like the English version of the books feels poorly translated from the Polish and I want to see what happens before the games.

I don’t mind the character casting all that much. What’s wrong with it?

It was a horrifc adaptation of the short stories. They didn't even adapt the most important stories.

>I don’t mind the character casting all that much. What’s wrong with it?
cavill has zero charisma
the rest is good

Lazlo is relentlessly handsome.

>good adaptation of short stories
No it wasn't. They butchered every story they adapted, only the Lesser Evil episode was good
>I don't read the books because I feel like the translation is poor so I watch a shitty Americanized adaptation filled with feminist fan fiction instead

>the English version of the books feels poorly translated from the Polish
>watches a netflix production with mutts and nogs instead because muh representation
>...that's based on English translation anyway
yike

Cavill absolutely carried that show, otherwise it was only really a sub-par retelling of the beginning of the story, marred by jarring and bizarre casting choices + some pretty weak actors.

>they butchered
They didn't butcher it, but adapted it to the shitty original characters they added like dara that add no substance to the story.

> What’s wrong with it?
Blackwashing a bunch of characters for no reason, when this series is meant to be the fantasy equivalent of central/northern europe so it makes no real sense.

no, it wasn't. I was impressed with how much important stuff one can leave out or misrepresent in fucking Witcher short stories of all things just to make room for two backstories.

The Showrunner, Hissrich, did an interview. It's up on soundcloud somewhere. In which she said she really liked the source material but what made her wanting to adapt it as a series was the characters in the OP image. Geralt(father), Ciri(child), Yen(mother). But for the vast majority of the books it's a "Geralt goes on adventures, fucks chicks and banters with his buddies"-story. Ciri and Yen don't even appear until the very end of the 4th book. Which means Hissrich wouldn't get to tell "her" story until halfway through season 3 or 4. That's why she ripped the events out of order and skipped large parts of Geralts story and world building.

It may not have been good, but it gave us the funniest concept known to man. A fat sweaty nigger in armor pretending to be a knight. Absolutely ridiculous looking. I honest to god thought I accidentally clicked on a Martin Lawrence parody.

It’s set in a fantasy world on a fictional continent where magic, elves, dwarves, and monsters exist, and black people is what effects your suspension of disbelief?

They raped and butchered the adapted short stories. And they literally skipped the most important ones.
How can you skip The sword of destiny, Something more or A shard of ice? Even a braindead moron knows that they are important.

You're right, there should have been way more white people in Wakanda. And Asians too, where is their representation? I want T'Chinka or I'm going to kill some black cops in retaliation.

It was not in the source material.
In fact there is black/arab people and they're from a distant continent and basically never appear, but blacks are elves and cintrians now? Epic.

Wakanda is described as being in our Earth in Africa. It’s literally meant to be specifically an African country.

>It’s set in a fantasy world on a fictional continent
And that's why there's no niggers, a perfect fantasy.

They literally removed Geralt from the Brokilon story, the one where he first meets Ciri, so when he finally meets Ciri for the first time it's an epic cinematic scene and she asks about Yennefer for some reason. That isn't butchering?
That's the only "important" thing they fucked up. In the other stories they fucked up and even removed some minor things to make more screen time for Yen but those minor fuck ups completely destroyed the feel of the stories. They also skipped a bunch of important stories like the other user said

Like how can you be so backawards minded holy shit you faggot. Everyone here is in agreement that Cavil's performance was the best thing in this shit show

Considering that the games/books have a fairly cemented geographical setting that has specific types of people occupying specific places, its a jarring and pointless change to make outside of wanting to get brownie points for diversity.

It's not even like this setting is devoid of darker skinned peoples, but understandably they are not from the areas the stories are mostly set in, and so are far less common to see.

It being a fantasy series in general doesn't mean you can or should fuck around with the world building just because you can, magic and elves existing doesn't mean that certain things in the world shouldn't have consistency and make sense.

His voice doesn't fit Geralt, but the fact that he played W3 and read books makes his performance better since he knows his character.

Uh, no? It's a fictional country set in a FANTASTICAL, fictional version of Earth set in the Marvel Universe. So why are there no whites or asians in Wakanda? I just don't get where this bigotry and racism is coming from.

>His voice doesn't fit Geralt
Holy shit this can't be real. You really are a backwards minded retard.

So just because a world is from a fantasy series it can't have any logical and set distribution of different races? The books laid out that the countries we see most are specifically/majorily Caucasian, changing that and fucking up the set world building for no reason is retarded.

Hell, even if they DIDN'T have a set racial distribution in this world, they're still blackwashing many canonically white characters for the sake of getting praise by the masses.

I agree.
Also there was no WMBF couples representation which is unacceptable in the current year, i feel oppressed.

>Cavil's performance was the best thing in this shit show
That tells everything about the show. You know it's really bad when a shit actor with his laughable performance is the best part.

I'd say the opposite actually, he's too charismatic. Book Geralt is an old, jaded monster hunter. Cavill's Geralt feels like medieval James Bond. It's still fun to watch, and it's better than some random dude who doesn't care about the character playing it, but he doesn't fit the character.

Worst part IMO was how poorly done and rushed many of the character interactions were, feels like there was no time given to flesh out character relationships and actually letting them breathe, Yennifer and basically everyone she talks to more than once is probably the worst offender.
