Should ATLA have any white people in it?

The show is all POC cast. It has mostly Asians and Native Americans but also Mexicans (Sun warriors), Vietnamese (swamp benders), Africans and Arabs (Sand benders) and South Asians (Guru Pathik).

The show has no mention of anything European or "white". White people don't exist in the avatar world yet every other race does. This isn't a race bait post it's legitimately discussing whether the ATLA Netflix adaptation should blacklist white people from any type of casting. Thoughts? It would still be okay to have every other race like Blacks, but no whites. This is the opinion that's being held by the fandom at the moment.

I don’t think the fandom agrees with you

Fire Nation is white

I honestly thought the swamp people were white southerners lmao

>Asians are boring, niggers are offensive. No whites, no watch.

Japanese
They have brown skin and Vietnamese names

swamp benders are dumb southern hicks, they're the only whites in the show
of course you can have a show of mostly non-whites just like Lord of the Rings should be mostly whites, of course that isn't going to happen with the new adaption though

>Africans

So you be saying?

The it has a pretty diverse group of cultures but only one race and they're all Asian. Plus the sun warriors technically being Aztec and I guess sand benders are Arabs/Berbers. I wouldn't have a problem if they actually did that for the live action.

It’s mostly Asian but still has all other races. Just no white people

I don't really care if it has no white people.

I care if a black person plays an Inuit.

It ahouldn't exist in the first place.

This is true though.

I think there should be as many white people as there are nonwhites in fantasy series inspired by europe.
Which is to say a fuckton.

yeah they are
>Vietnamese names
are they supposed to be? the wiki says the names are Due, Huu, Slim and Tho, obviously Slim is supposed to be a white southerner, I always thought Due was supposed to be Dew. Also the way they pronounce the other names doesn't sound Vietnamese
I wonder if they were supposed to be Vietnamese in the planning stages but changed it

>This is true though.

good luck finding a young, thin, attractive inuit character to play Katara

Good luck finding a young, thin and attractive nigger girl instead.

Preferably it would be accurate to the cartoon but that doesn't seem feasible. So the least they can do it make it consistent such that Firenation are one group, water tribes another etc.

Most water benders look like tanned europeans more than anything else. Maybe you can find some mutt in Mexico or ME, but they don't look mongoloid/negroid at all compared to caucasoid.

>chuds actually pretend they wouldn't fuck this

Netflix is trash

Wow, what a struggle.

>Mexicans
>Native American
Le Pepe staring at you face

You cannot simultaneously hold the opinion that series like the Lord of the Rings (which was clearly inspired by NW European mythology/history) should cast only Europeans, whilst believing that ATLA (which is so clearly inspired by Asian and Native American mythology/history) shouldn't cast only Asians/Native Americans.

Lord of the rings had POC though. They weren’t completely alienated

this
hate the narrative of "a-actually they're not EXPLICITLY asian" when you could say the exact same thing for LotR

Avatar isn’t only asian it has black people and Middle Eastern people in it too

This. If you're gonna flood European stories with black people in them then I really don't want to hear complaining when white people appear in a non-white show

That face

Yes, it did, in specific contexts/cultures (Easterlings, Haradrim). We never see European-inspired cultures in ATLA.

Who were the blacks? I can see a case for sand people and beetle heads being middle east, but i don't recall any africans.

>black people
which ones?
>Middle Eastern people
yes, asians, lol

Sandbenders based off North African. Avatar has every race except white people

lmao you cunts are all so full of shit
don't believe in a thing you pretend to think

Cajun (swamp benders), fire nation is based off Iceland (believe it or not)

They were clearly not Black looking but much more middle eastern.

>North African
>African
pick one

He’s not wrong though.

This. If you're gonna flood European stories with black people in them then I really don't want to hear complaining when white people appear in a non-white show.

>fire nation is based off Iceland (believe it or not)
lol no, only the landscape

This but unironically

Lmao in what possible fucking way is the Fire Nation based off Iceland?

Have you watched ATLA?

They took some landscape shots from Iceland when designing some scenes so spergs think it can be called an Icelandic culture

Everyone in Avatar is white with the exception of some non-whites who are put in there for no reason like Guru Pathik because it seems more ''authentic'' to have an Indian guy speak the guru gibberish. Aang's first firebending teacher is asian because they wanted to do that weird ''mystic asian wise guy'' trope. It's 99% white and 1% weird tokens. There are no blacks or jews in Avatar. Comics don't count and Korra doesn't count.

just gonna ignore the cajun then
He's right lol, but the landscape is based off iceland

Isn't the entire point of fire and air nation that they are notchina and nottibet?
Changing one into whites, for some reason, just ruins everything and this just seems like blatant China shilling and trying not to offend them.

Are you Asian? I'm only asking

No, it's obviously stylized in such a way to be about east asians and Inuits. I see no reason to destroy the aesthetic with whites or niggers or anything else that wasn't portrayed in the show. The swamp benders were honestly just for giggles and I wouldn't really put that much stalk into. Making them Vietnamese in a live action series would make sense.

Nah. You can only have your own standards. You can't pretend to have your own standards when it's convenient and then try and promote other peoples standards under the guise of 'highlighting hypocrisy' when that one suits you. That just makes you a hypocrite.

Got to love how brainlets claim everyone is asian in the show because the architecture looks asian inspired, but completely ignore that all of them speak English and their models are white, and their voice actors are white, that it's all white people who never bring up race because they meet another person who has slightly darker skin. All these white people must be asian because their houses look pretty. Makes sense.

>cajun culture is european culture

OK buddy

lmao I'm not him but what relevance does it have? The Fire Nation is not solely based off Iceland, as based by the architecture seen in that pic

It should be used to finally show the slight mix of races in East Asia.

It would be funny to make the real life adaption 100% asian and true to the source material, and then have the white hick swamp benders appear out of nowhere, just like the show

some people don't have autism and are able to comprehend the feel of the series, they're clearly asian
