Does it baffle anyone else when you read about hikers going missing and it'll be two idiots hiking in the middle of nowhere, sometimes even one? What goes through the minds of people like that? It's like suicide by cop but instead of the police it's nature.

I have to agree. I'm not incapable of feeling fear but I do consider myself somewhat brave. Sometimes I'll go for walks at night (around my suburb) and most of the time, I never come across anyone. That tells me that the average person wants to live and they don't really take chances. Then I'll read about some couple going missing after hiking in the wilderness and wonder what the fuck they were doing.

Pretty much. Those people are just wired differently. They’re not fully human. It’s braver to overcome fear than to never have had it in the first place. It sounds like cope, and it is in a way, but it’s the truth. Those autists get what’s coming to them simply because they cannot recognise danger. They don’t have that “gut feeling”. In some ways they’re better than the average person because they’re literally fearless. In other ways they don’t have these natural defences.

Man and woman. Two people. Went to the middle and nowhere to camp and nobody ever saw them again. Best part? It's an old couple. Apparently the man was "experienced" but that means absolutely nothing when you're an old man with an old woman.
I dunno. Make friends and then bring fucking guns. I'm not a hiker but if I were, I'd want to be armed and with others. That's logical, right?
