this show is amazing, yet no matter how many people i try to get to watch it they refuse. without ever actually watching an episode.
im a huge star trek fan, i hate star wars. but babylon 5 is so underrated its criminal. i feel like it has no fanbase at all in the modern day. why do you think this is?
has anyone here never seen this show? i want to watch it with someone.
We had a good thread last night. Everyone must be sleeping.
Babylon 5 was way ahead of its time.
Angel Gray
its fairly popular around here. most anons puts it in the same category as farscape. i love it.
Leo Campbell
I have watched the whole series multiple times
Jordan Russell
Great show one of my favorites as kid as it introduced me to scifi.
Connor Ramirez
I love Babylon 5, it's a great show that is ambitious and deals with big ideas.
It was way ahead of its time in its long form storytelling multi-season spanning arcs that predate shows like the Sopranos and The Wire, and even the MCU.
Also, Londo and G'Kar have amazing character arcs.
Aaron Green
who are you?
James Lewis
All that like trek should like babylon
Brody Smith
Farscape is a bit too goofy later on, especially some of the dialogue. S1 is top kino though
Nathan Garcia
If it makes you feel better I gave it a half hour before I turned it off
Jack Clark
the first episode or the pilot movie may i ask?
Oliver Harris
I could never really get into Farscape. The puppets were great but the rest of the cast never resonated with me and the fact that the ship had no weapons made most of the conflict about running away.
Jeremiah Rivera
i'm me. who are you?
Jacob Jackson
I watched it all in order last year and I agree its top tier sci fi. Looks like the creator was able to actually make what he wanted to and complete it which is nice.
I recently watched about a season and a half, but there was so much cast turnover and it felt so low budget that it was hard for me to stay interested. That and no one here or in my real life wanted to watch it/talk about it
Eli Martinez
DS9 literally did this at the same time as Babylon 5 was airing and did it better
Leo Hall
Babylon 5 was great. It's too bad they can't make something like that today. The stuff coming out is nigger-tier rick-and-morty-trek, or diversity wars.
William Russell
I'm still mad that the top qt from the original movie got replaced with some 5/10 blonde chick
Are you retarded? DS9 literally ripped off entire episodes of B5. I genuinely don't know if you're trolling or serious.
Easton Green
b5 is great. tons of people like it. but since it's a serial, you can't really watch random episodes or watch it in small doses and then come back to it. that makes it intimidating for new viewers. the first season is also kind of shitty, but you can't really skip it. and since it's been finished for 20 years, most fans have already talked about it to death.
Jonathan Parker
There is way too much shitty filler
Charles Fisher
It's a great show but on a surface level it's very cheesy, even if you ignore the dated CGI. It also takes a while to really get going and you can't watch it out of order like you can with Star Trek. Also, everyone who's interested in watching the show should check out this guide: midwinter.com/lurk/countries/master/eplist.html Not only does it list all the episodes in the correct order, but each episode has a page with commentary from JMS taken from conversations he had with fans on a BBS while the show was airing.
David Sanders
I watched this shit when it first came out. Was fantastic then, and the crazy part is it's actually aged pretty well. Especially for sci fi. If you have not watched this series, you really need to consider doing so. I say this as someone who adored DS9. Trek was imitating B5 here.
James Gonzalez
the redhead? she comes back later bro.
Samuel Powell
B5 is fantastic, probs next on my rewatch list after my current TNG binge. I have fond memories of watching my Dad's B5 VHS tapes as a kid. The world just felt so much more dynamic and lived in compared to Trek. Plus I don't give a shit what anybody says about the CGI, the space battles are pure exhilerating kino.
Event though the effects themselves are dated, the design and choreography of the space sequences is great. They also did a really good job of minimizing the number of shots that would require compositing footage of actors into a CGI scene, so it's easy to suspend your disbelief.

Allright. Fine. Do you really want to know what I want? Do you really want to know the truth? I want my people to reclaim their rightful place in the galaxy. I want to see the Centauri stretch forth their hand again and command the stars. I want a rebirth of glory, a renaissance of power! I want to stop running through my life like a man late for an appointment, afraid to look back or to look forward. I want us to be what we used to be! I want... I want it all back the way it was. Does that answer your question?
