Piggybacking off last thread, what’s the best Katharine Hepburn performance and why is it Lion in Winter?
based
My favorite arthouse and classic cinema is Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.
la chinoise
>dishonest
Maoist propaganda, it's implied that maoism is a superior political system than capitalism and that's factual dishonest, as it killed millions of people in china
>pretentious
Characters reading maoist propaganda out loud for minutes, full of godard's affectations
>boring
If I wanted to learn something about maoism I would read a book, not watch a movie in which characters read maoist books out loud, because that's boring as fuck,
Reminder to stop doing whatever you're doing and go read a book
jean luc godard is dishonest, pretentious and boring shit
>read a book
lmao look at this nerd
I haven't watched a film in a month in a half. I'm not sure I like watching films or just the discussion of it anymore.
jokes on you. I'm reading Aristotle right now you fucking jigaboo.
Godard is great and would be ashamed at how you're using him you larper
Lynch’s dune is close to a masterpiece. I hate to say it, but it’s not as is. Some insight into the civilians of dune and some more jokes like the smuggler scene would have made it perfect
LMAO
Why is it funny?
It’s his only bad film and it’s god awful, user
Why is it god awful?
can anyone provide me with a magnet link to download the ''Love at Twenty'' anthology? I can only find the follow up to 400 Blows but nothing else
buy the blu ray/dvd poorfag
actually based
>Siberia
>Tommaso
>Possessor
>Undine
>Days
>The Woman Who Ran
>IWOW: I Walk On Water
what else has leaked?
Because it's delusional. Film is trash.
I would have to import it and I don't even know if the other shorts are good or not
If I were to buy every movie I can't find I would be living on the streets senpai
Why is it trash?
Zhangke doc
Liberte from Serra
The dialogue sucks. The costumes and effects are cheesy. Kyle McLaughin is a bad action hero. It does a bad job of establishing the weird world the movie occupies. The directing is uninspired. Because Lynch deals in Sci-Fi rather than surreal, a lot of what should be real for the world of the movie instead feels silly
If you don't have the money to buy as many movies you want what you're doing wasting time watching them? Do something with your life and earn some money, don't waste your time with arthouse cinema.
Cause i just said so, Serra didn't leak. It's normal webrip
another webmless thread
Solaris is George Clooney's best film.
>The dialogue sucks.
Actually is pretty good, to be quite honest, the screenplay is from Battle of Algiers, so it's very similar and emulated many of the amoral themes.
>The costumes and effects are cheesy.
Yes it's a blockbuster from the 80s, which is par for the course
>Kyle McLaughin is a bad action hero
He's unconventional and doesn't follow our standard of morals, but is bold and purposeful. He is not good, but a man with power. This was intentional and thematically well-woven.
>It does a bad job of establishing the weird world the movie occupies
This is the Lynchian exegensis of the film, his other-worldness, the dream sequences, this is something wanting in action films today, he created an other world with villains and heros that aren't good or bad, but men with purposes, men that want something. The emperor promoting the Baron as the Baron was a hedonistic last man that couldn't turn on the emperor leading to his downfall was such thematic depth. The emperor also wasn't a villain, but simply one who opposes them.
>The directing is uninspired.
Not sure what this means.
>Because Lynch deals in Sci-Fi rather than surreal
His surrealism translates perfectly into sci-fi.
>a lot of what should be real for the world of the movie instead feels silly
That's just from maintaining the 80s blockbuster aesthetic, it's like Cronenberg, but serious and not frivolous. Nobody critcizes The Fly or Videodrome for the same things.
Someone last thread said Scorsese refused to defend Birth of a Nation, anyone got a source?
>Zhangke doc
link?
Feeling a bit depressed lately, what are some uplifting /film/s? Stuff like The Tree of Life
It's on his favorite films list on Mubi
IDK, I just heard it leaked, I've been looking for it too.
Lmao
'Dune bad, Critics told me.'
'Dune bad, Director told me too.'
It's a bold task to defend a film even the filmmaker disowned.
Another webmless thread
>Dune and Battle of Algiers
Those two films have nothing in common. The fuck are you even talking about?
Dune is not a masterpiece, even if you're doing your best to make it one to internet strangers on an anime image board. It's not an entertaining movie. By that simple fact alone it's a failure.
godard talks shit about his early work but idgaf
Are Dunefag and SerpentsEggfag the same person?
are you talking about I Wish I Knew or Swimming Out till the Sea Turns Blue from this year's Berlinale? The former is from 2010 but wasn't available to stream/DVD/whatever until this year.
why sources,? let's just make shit up to win arguments
Yes, you are not doing a good job.
No, Serpent writes completely diffferently making comprehensible word salad that says almost nothing.
Dunefag comes from stupid perspective and tries to pass it off as good despite the fact that ecerything he says is wrong.
>hello, I am twelve and need attention
binky, is that you?
