4hour30mins of trying to explain surrealism with huge generalisations and stretches

Just for clarification, the thread was in reference to this
>BECUS PEPL HU LEIK DA RUTURN R RETURDS
I think The Return Episode 8 is the best episode of TV I have ever witnessed, it evoked a feeling in me akin to the end sequence of 2001 A Space Odyssey
It's like when a TV show "rebounds" after turning to shit. The loyal viewers with poor taste are the only ones who stuck around.
...
This guy is constantly pulling shit out of his ass
There's a lot of dumb stretches but the main point of the show being meta-commentary on closure, dumb fanbait, and tv violence, is sound imo.
also I lost a lot of respect for Lynch when it showed his love for meditation is filled with a bunch of pseudo-science nonsense.
Pretty sure he says again and again that he was only going over the basic themes/symbols in the show. Of course there are generalizations, because it's a general analysis.
Keep in mind this guy also «explained» Batman vs Superman
holy based
What's the tl;dr? There's like 5 videos and they're all 15 hours long.
God I love when Zig Forums gets filtered.
Still haven't got an actual list of counter arguments to the vid. I get it's not worth the effort, but genuinely what are opposing theories? Besides surface level stuff, like cooper seeing ep 17 inside the lodge
Why do people keep falling for the meme that Lynch is using some type of secret symbolism he refuses to explain? He literally explains very clearly over and over again that his artistic process is to take images or ideas that he daydreams up and try to recreate them on the screen.
He showed in the video that one time in an interview he hinted at "wrong interpretations" so that means everything has a definite secret meaning.
Not necessarily. It's possible to have a negative definition of something without a positive one.
>pseudo-science nonsense
What if he knows something you don't though? Probably not, but it's a possibility in those rich people circles that they know things. For example what if the CIA/hidden agencies/labs etc know things that then gets passed down through high society circles? there is some weird shit going on like those UFOs
Yeah, I think Mulholland drive is a better example of when lynch has a positive definition or clear story. The return has it too just maybe under more layers of symbolism and improv. The unified theory is a good attempt tho
Fuck this stupid video. It ruined TP discussion forever, not only here but every other place online to discuss it
wow, an opinion channel that doesn't hide behind some faggy cartoon avatar
>huge generalisations and stretches
what? he literally spends 4.5 hrs explaining what could have been said in 0.5, he aint generaliZe nothin
I never watched the video despite it being recommended constantly. Is it really cancer?
I just dont fucking get you people.
Its like someone says
>I HAVE DEFINITIVE PROOF (really its just a theory) THAT THE MONA LISA IS SMILING BECAUSE SHE JUST FARTED REALLY LOUDLY
and then wondering why nobody wants to indulge in an argument with you.
Twin Peaks isnt like Breaking Bad where there a fun things in the background you can notice or character interactions that reveal hidden secrets to careful listeners. I mean, that stuff is there, but it doesnt really help you "understand" the show it just helps you put together a crackpot "pixar theory" tier analysis of a show that just doesnt work that way.
>so actually the dougie jones subplot of the return is supposed to be annoying because the fans are dumb and want nostalgia!
>yes i did like the dougie jones sections, i know that lots of people like the dougie jones sections, but trust me it's supposed to be annoying - my theory doesn't work unless it's annoying
This guy just makes shit up to pretend as though there's some conflict between the "audience" and Lynch.
Who thought the Dougie bits were annoying? I thought they were fun, deebly goncerning, and comfy for the most part
Why is 'longwinded retard spends four hours doing mile-wide inch-deep analysis of incelkino' a popular Youtube genre?
Background noise and no-effort popcorn intellectualism
Hbomberguy made a really great video talking about how awful Sherlock was and everyone proceeded to copy that videos style and format and nobody did as well. Including future Hbomberguy videos.
exactly - but in the Twin Perfect video he says that the return is all about Lynch criticising the audience for "ruining" twin peaks and that the dougie jones section is supposed to be aggravating for viewers who want the "coffee and cherry pie" cooper character.
Even though he admits that he enjoyed the dougie jones stuff, and everyone who watched the show liked the dougie jones stuff, he has to pretend the show is something that it isn't in order to put forward his "theory"
I'm not defending the guy but you've got to be kidding me a little if you think that the idea that dougie wouldn't troll a few people didn't cross david and mark's minds. its pretty blatant when phillip gerard says "finally!" after he wakes up
