King Kong was a commentary on how wild animals shouldnt be forcefully taken out of their habitat, along with alot of other things.
One of the main things that made it genius was that the movie didnt directly make the human characters out to be villains. They were simply doing what any group of people would have done, it was up to the viewer to decide who was in the wrong. Then the new movie just comes in and without any subtlety makes Carl Denham into a cartoon villain and makes ann darrow and jack driscoll go boohoo at the end for a murderous beast.
Also the movie makes King Kong far too intelligent, making his actions just come off as completely retarded compared to the original where he acted like an animal the entire time

You probably felt more sympathy for 2005 Kong and assumed the filmmakers wanted him to look more innocent when they succeeded in making you want to see him more innocent.
