No, that was never the plan. Fort years we have known that the Seige of Mandalore story was to run parralel to Revenge of the Sith and that we would see Order 66 from the perspective of Rex. For once we got exactly what was promised. The only thing Disney really shat up were the 4 Ahsoka spotlight episodes that led up to the final storyline. Shithair and smokervoice were truly repugnant characters.

I began to watch the season... It was a story about some group of clones called "the bad batch", and which one was good at something, there was the smart, the survivalist, the sniper, the strong... It was so stupid and irrelevant, I simply decided to watch no more.
It is nice when they show the trade federation, that science syndycate that I forgot the name, and how the galaxy politics play out, but I don't have the time and the patience to watch the childish shit.
