why the fuck does this movie have such a bad reputation? literally in top 5 best kung fu movies ever and one of the best movies of the 90s. Shit should be in Jurassic Park tier of schlock that is actually really well-made and impressive.

The only thing people complain about it are sub zero and scorpion are just mooks for the bad guys and don't really follow the characterization of their video game counterparts.
My personal complaint is that the costumes are pretty shitty (namely Kano) which doesn't make sense when the sets were god tier.

The great thing about Mortal Kombat lore is that you can rearrange anything into a standalone story. Sub Zero and Scorpion enslaved under Shang Tsung is perfectly fine. The protags need to be Earthrealm warriors for this easy to follow, easy to relate kid movie.
