can anyone recommend films to watch for when i'm feeling incessantly depressed/suicidal and the inability to sleep, and constantly fantasizing about better lives i could have lead?
i've already seen pretty woman and party girl (1994)
The Man Who Sleeps, The Devil Probably
I'm up! I'm having my coffee! I have until Thursday to do whatever I please!
Going to watch Touch of Evil and The Wrestler today.
This one. Especially the part about the goy's teeth.
just saw tampopo, more like it? loved how it was simultaneously absurd but also profound.
Just saw this, anyone else see it before?
Yes, it was quite good.
Can anyone rec me a movie that feels like browsing the good schizo threads on /x/?
Does anyone have a strange feeling now watching a 50's or a 60's film starting in Paris since it's a shithole now?
Yeah but hey that's civilization for you

Does anyone own one of those mini projectors? I've been thinking about getting one and incorporating it somehow into my hiking. I'd love to watch films in the nature against a white canvas tied between two trees. I'm just not sure how viable it actually is.
Check out Postman Blues, it feels very similar to Tampopo.
Where Tarkosvsky tries to motivate you to see the beauty in life and soldier on, Lopushansky succumbs to the rancor of the world and bathes in it. Watch The Ugly Swans next.
Watch Lamorisse's Red Balloon, that's a good film about Paris in the 50's. It's a short film.
Is this the same Lamorisse who made that board game Risk?
As wild as it is, yeah.
I haven't seen his full feature films, but his shorts are more well known, Red Balloon & White Mane.
Now look at America
>...watch the ugly swans next
Thanks for the recc user, i'll check it out. I think you're spot on where this was like a pessimistic Tarkovsky which I loved.
I had some time to kill and started a top 100 list. After about 20 films I realised that this will be too arbitrary as I have a huge library of superb films. So I scrolled through the folder and made a rough estimate. I now decided to make it a top 500 list instead.
How many top notch masterpieces would you say there are?
What do you hike with that gives you electricity for a projector and sound speakers? Can't imagine you carry around a generator.

What
How many great movies were made in the last 100 years that are worth watching. Movies that elevate you, inspire you, delight you... Movies that have an impact. The movies that matter. How many are they?
>movies that are worth watching
oh probably like 2000, but truly great films, im talking perfect, maybe like 30-50. 7 and above are worth watching, with 10's being the perfect films.
Even a good flawed film can have an impact and inspire you. Depends on your standards and which directors resonate with you. I think there are plenty of great films, if you know what you like. More than 300 for sure. At least for me.
Another webmless thread
is film school worth it if i want to be a filmmaker?
im in south america so i can attend it for free
Why do people who have never seen Paris keep talking about it?
Paris was run down and dirty back then, you can see in those films that even the buildings were all black. Now the city is almost completely gentrified.
I have a collection of 300.
Probably for networking etc. Look up some working south American directors and whether they went.
this
saw this on the last thread, actually pretty based. not bad
If you are 16yo
But i have seen Midnight in Paris bro
