Aleksei German (the best from Russia), watch My Friend Ivan Lapshin, Khrustalyov My Car and Hard to Be a God, preferably in this order.
I have Qndrei Rubiev, Stalker, Solaris, and Ivan's Childhood on Blu-Ray. I keep meaning to see them. Tarkovsky sounds right up my alley and I kept picking them up on Criterion sales. I even got Rublev first on dvd because I am Orthodox and find icons fascinating. Just never found the time to sit down in the right mood for them.
The first 30 minutes of '4' is pure kino. The rest of the film is shit after that.
Boje... Complete trash.
An Orthodox priest put his hand on my back when I walked into Jesus' tomb. It was cool
