After I saw that more recent doc about them it's obvious Trey is the talent but he's too autistic and childish to handle anything other than being creative so Matt handles all the adult shit likes bossing people around and getting shit done
Also Trey needs someone to bounce off of and Matt is perfect for that since they were best friends in college and thrive off that dynamic of being goofy together
