He said, "Now how about old Maude from Ikely down?" ... She's got the biggest parakeets I've ever seen.

cringe

Benny Hill was more popular outside the UK than it was here, I don't think it's been on TV since the 80s

Think he's more popular in Burgerland, doubt most Bongs have heard of him since we don't get repeats.

no and no

>porridge is still funny as fuck

the 80s UK looked so comfy and quaint.

getting blown up by irish terrorists doesn't sound very comfy

I don't know if we ever gave that much of a shit about him (we might have) but it's not like we think he's some of the best comedy we've ever produced. It's not like he's Fawlty Towers, Blackadder or The Office.

This too. Only Fools and Horses, Yes Minister etc

It was alright as a kid, you didn't have to worry about the job market or AIDS, didn't have gay shit pushed on you all the time and there were significantly less darkies.

Probably Monty Python is more popular in the States as well. You might get some old guys talking about it but you never see any of the episodes aired.

>Is Benny Hill still funny ?
Yes. Things don't magically become unfunny just because time passes.

Benny was basically a successful Zig Forums poster
>Hill never owned his own home in London, and instead preferred to rent a flat rather than buy one.[21] He rented a double-room apartment in the London district Queen's Gate for 26 years until around 1986 when he moved to Fairwater House in Teddington. While looking for somewhere to live, he stayed at 22 Westrow Gardens in Southampton.[22] He also never owned a car, although he could drive.
>Despite being a millionaire many times over, he continued with the frugal habits that he picked up from his parents, notably his father, such as buying cheap food at supermarkets, walking for miles rather than paying for a taxi unless someone picked up the tab for a limousine, and constantly patching and mending the same clothes even when the balance on his account at the Halifax Building Society reached seven figures.[21]
>Hill never married and he had no children. He had proposed to two women, but neither accepted. Shortly after his death in 1992, actress Annette Andre said that she turned down his proposal of marriage in the early 1960s.[23] Because of his eccentricity and reclusive lifestyle, rumours circulated that he was gay, but he always laughingly denied them.[24]
I still enjoy him, but seems most English dislike or are embarrassed by him.

I’ve known of the song for many years, but this is the first time I’ve seen a picture of him.

I'm reminded time and time again how retarded british humor is

it does seem odd that he had money but women wouldn't marry him. Sounds like he has assbugers.

fucking bait.

i dont think he is a good example of British humor. He's more like the three stooges which is probably why he has more American fans.

so u are saying average brit is a moron or even a cuck .Sad really sad . Disliking or even being embarrassed for one of best thing Britain have produced . Fucking facepalm

Are you one of those cases of inbred brown british people I read about?

Wasn't he the one who hired prostitutes but never had sex with any of them?

Poor guy. I wonder why those birds wouldn’t marry him. He wasn’t bad looking and was super rich

Two Ton Ted from Teddington

>rejecting sex with his wife like that to go jogging
absolute chad

Benny Hill hasn't been shown of British tv for decades. He's pretty much forgotten now.

Kinda sad. Though do they show any older shows over there ? Last time I was In England on vacation the only time I watched tv it was just game shows

British telly is pure trash now. The only older stuff you see are US sitcoms like Friends and Fraser which are on every day. Actual old British stuff doesn't get a look in anymore. The only new stuff is just soap operas, and there are tons of them, it's basically Groundhog Day with the same depressing never ending shit like East Enders and Coronation Street. Now everyone is literally watching US stuff on Netflix or Amazon etc. British telly is done.
