could a waterworld sequel work where it's like mad max 2 but they have to defend the island or whatever?
Could a waterworld sequel work where it's like mad max 2 but they have to defend the island or whatever?
Waterworld should have strived to be less like Mad Max and more of its own thing.
The original script has a lot more weird mutations and bio-tech. It's basically a post apocalyptic biopunk setting.
doubt there's enough goodwill to the ip for a sequel
costner might own the rights to it
True. Just saying "Waterworld" is a joke when talking about hollywood big budget flops
Posting Waterworld fandom kino!
Costner shouldn't touch it. He and Dennis Hopper were woefully miscast as antagonist and protagonist.
is it leaked online?
mfw no motorized surf board scenes in water world.
No. I guarantee you it would revolve around a child. And Costner's character would end up dying in the end in some contrived sacrifice even cheesier than his death in Man of Steel. It would make the climate change argument even more explicit and in the audience's face. It'd be one of those cases where the critics rate it 85% but audiences rate it 30%.
Waterworld was kino
was it vulgar auteurism?
The problem is the absolute absurdity of the setting. Probably should have put the movie on another planet.
Did anyone else here like The Postman?
Make the main role Ryan Gosling and is works.
Think about it.
Upsetting how accurate this is
It was kino as well.
>MONGOLOID, UNACCEPTABLE
except it didn't flop, it went overbudget but made all the money back
90s meant blockbuster could save a movie that failed to break even
he produced it, how is he miscast when it was his decision to play the mariner?
Here's the second draft which retains things like the kidney machine and the mutant hunter-seeker sharks used by the smokers
>made its money back
That's called flopping. The purpose is to make a PROFIT
thanks
What about Waterworld but FROZEN?
>Dude devotes his life to reviewing WaterWorld content online
'
God bless the internet
kino
Made now? no
Back then. Sure.
They even rip off the end of Mad Max...
Post the kino video essay about Kevin Costner drinking his own piss.
based
Waterworld doesn't need a sequel.
Both the Smokers and the Atollers were reaching the end of viability as societies. The Smokers preached unlimited growth, but their way of life required endless pillaging, to the point where there were no other societies left to pillage.
The Atollers preached sustainability, but their insistence on maintaining the past way of life was leading to the collapse of their society because they couldn't adapt and change.
But now they can do a movie about Land vs Sea dwellers
Complete with poz'd pro-immigration message
>implying dry land is real
