Boring shitty pseudo garbage

I want to watch this show but I'm confused as to how I should go about it.

Watch the original show from start to end.
Then watch end of evangelion for an alternative look at the last 2 episodes

Then if you want more watch rebuild

That'd be Twin Peaks: The Return. But Eva is not that far behind.

It’s funny when Zig Forums tries to talk film.

Not even a top 250!film, certainly not a top 1000 piece of art across all mediums.

yes, Neon Genisis Evangelion is the peak of human artistic achievement.

>dude like, there is a cross xD. Isn't that like super deep symbolism!

I unironically agree

I would’ve agreed with this when I was 14 years old, now that I’m older and have exposed myself to more art I find this statement laughable.

>objective quality fag
>rankings lists
ok retard

>Evangelion is the peak of human autistic archievement.

ftfy

Leave your b8 for the f/a/ggots, their picard review was unironically more entertaining than any japanese cartoon I've ever seen

Average Eva fan is a pasty dyel virgin

People who bitch about religious symbolism in Evangelion are fucking retards, it's like bitching about the sci-fi symbolism. It has nothing to do with the core themes of the story, which revolve around identity and the ego, and is just there for the aesthetics. But you're also a retard if you actively defend the religious symbolism as anything more than a topping.

End of Evangelion is without a doubt one of the best films of the last 25 years. Anyone who doesn't recognize that has a profound taste deficiency.

Watch the series (26 episodes) and then the movie End of Evangelion which takes place concurrently with the last two episodes of the series.

Death and Rebirth is just a recap film and should be skipped, and the Rebuild trilogy is a soft-reboot that kinda missed the point of the original.

Remember to listen intently to dialog or else you WILL get confused. What sounds like "fake science mumbo jumbo" in most movies is actually critical to the plot in Evangelion

Based

I never got why the guy killed the redhead in the end... weird as fuck. I'm talking about this:

youtu.be/pVeKyqV1jWU?t=98

That's completely true. The religious themes of Evangelion are just there to be a backdrop to a story about the human condition.

When did I say anything about objective quality? Who are you quoting?

>religious themes
They're not even that, it's just aesthetics like user said

*blocks your path*

He doesn't kill her.
In that last scene we see Shinji and Asuka truthfully expressing themselves to each other for the first time.

I used to think this as well, but then I started watching more movies/anime and reading more books/manga

It’s not le deep exploration of the human condition, but since its about a mopey depressed faggot lonely incels can relate to it.

Go back to episode 1 and try again

imagine being filtered by EoE

>series about the implementation of a apocalyptic scenario which culminates in the spiritual transcendence of all of humanity into a bliss like state of eternal oneness under the banner of a singular Godhead
>not religious

Attached: Batemandisgust.jpg (340x271, 13.3K)

Dude, he literally strangles her

I've seen the show in its entirety dozens of times, but you should still seek more art faggot

>mech cyborg monster vs abstract amazing kaiju with skin-deep book of enoch references
Awesome.
>creator says its not actually that deep
humble and accurate
>fags online make video essays about how its the meaning of life and the creator is wrong about his own art
cringe

The instrumentality plan was not a focus of the series until EoE, eva was always about the psychological makeup of the characters. Instrumentality also isn't a religious concept, it's a psychological one.

All the religious stuff is just a medium to convey the story. The whole point of instrumentality from a narrative standpoint is to break the egos of everyone on earth, achieving godhood is just the lore. And Shinji's reaction to instrumentality doesn't come from a state of bliss or seeking of a higher power, it comes from his desire to be an individual.

i liked it

She doesn't die.
He attempts to strangle her and she caresses his face and he loosens his grip and starts crying.
Asuka gets the last words of the film, she's still alive.

>imagine being so ignorant that a weak anime intro into philosophical existance and psychology it's considered peak human artistic achievement.
Its good to know why Zig Forums it's a containment board when you see statements like this.

>I used to like Evangelion but now I'm an adult and like proper cinema like the works of Christopher Nolan and Denis Vuvuzela. Have you ever heard of Stanley Kubrick?

A lot of artists don't find their works that deep because they understand them more than anyone else.
Depth is just the measurement of how much of the artist is able to communicate with their work.
What to Anno may be a simple concept because he understood it is complex and meaningful to others because of how well he communicates it.

You forgot to namedrop Tarkovsky and Kurosawa

It’s mastery of the subjects has nothing to do with its brilliance.
