Death Note is more cerebral. Code Geass is Death Note with big anime tiddies, mechs, and pizza butt. Both are fun, but Death Note is better conceived.

the first half is good, post timeskip is bad. geass trends more toward absurdist hyperdimensional 4d chess with mechs.

They're two completely different series and I liked them both. The first half of Death Note is some of the best suspense I've ever seen but it falls apart pretty quickly after a certain point. Geass is a dumb action show but it's extremely entertaining and I couldn't put it down.
