Netflix absolutely destroyed this seemingly loud but small dedicated group of fans. Everything about this show once it had been shoved into the mainstream it seemingly burned itself out in little more than a year. Years ago on this site youd always have that one unofficial eva general on one or two boards and now its completely wiped from this site. This energy of this show and its status just feels poisoned

Fuck outta here with that shit. Eva's always been controversial and people genuinely interested in it berated for being pseuds or teenagers, etc. Netflix didn't change that dynamic one bit. There's not as many threads anymore because Zig Forums and Zig Forums get worse every year. Can't compete with capeshit, Star Wars, and seasonal slice of life. And as far as popularity outside of chans it's not much more a cult classic than it was before. Netflix only prolonged the longevity of the fanbase but never got popular enough to rivial mainstream animated classics.
