the last act of the movie sucked. I read the wiki page and it looked like the book had a better ending.
One has Tom Noonan, one doesn't. I wonder why.
What did it mean bros

Old janitor man never left his fantasy world. He refused to leave his books, movies, and tv for the real world and ended up sad and alone. He wanted recognition and success but never actually tried preferring the safety of the fantasy. He also externalized alot of the blame unto his parents, felt ostracized. diminished, and humiliated. Jake was an idealized version of himself.
Kaufman's frustrating because he's one of the more creative and original writers & filmmakers out there, but he uses his talent for nothing but showing the pathetic miserable existence of pathetic miserable cucks. It's just not worth it anymore
I just saw this movie. It was not easy to comprehend the story but given the depth, scope, intention, even with its flaws, the overall sentiment was 7/10. This link gives a nice explanation of what you (probably) saw. digitalspy.com
He writes about the everyday human condition. Everybody suffers at least to a degree from the same traits as his characters. You are too blind to see.
>imagine not wanting existential crisis kino
Synecdoche NY is more sophisticated, but ITOET is more fun
I guess I'm just at the point where I'm not sure that's a particularly valuable thing for a writer or artist to do, especially the way he just wallows in misery and hopelessness and despair. I used to have more tolerance for films and stories like this when I was younger, but it just seems like a waste of my time now, and a damper on my mood for no valuable reason.
Ironically the speech he wrote into "Adaptation" does a great job of summing up my distaste for his work. If he can't find any better stories to write about in the human condition, he's just not looking hard enough, he's too focused on his own insular corner of it
Kaufman is a confirmed hack for even thinking this third rate horror novel was worth an adaptation, let alone actually going through with it.
It is precisely because so many people are so oblivious to the sad hopeless, miserable fake lives they (feel forced to) lead that the absurdity of it all must apparently be drilled into them by such movies. People need to learn that the happy Hollywood feelgood ending does not automatically happen irl. And that is why i love how deep deep down he is still basically urging people to change and live honest real lives, interacting on a a real human base and being content with what you have. At least that is what i feel after watching this, ESOTSM and Anomalisa.
Dropped it by min 15
Brainlet.
>creative person is miserable
duh
we get it Charlie, you were picked on when young and long for sex with attractive women. Get over your shit already and stop putting it into every movie.
The best scene was the one where she was talking about kino while smoking a Cigarette in the car.
literally me
this guy isn't kidding
Is it too late to change
if youre still in your 20s-30s yes.
no, but it's going to be incredibly hard and you're going to hate who you end up being, just happy that you're getting the things you want, finally
Never too late
I read the book and was expecting more from the man in the window/calls. Disappointed.
that scene when the girl describes him as a "mosquito" too real man
