1. He was last physically in Xinjiang in 2007
2. He interviewed 8 Uyghurs people who left Xinjiang (many of whom may have ties to Uyghur separatist movements)
3. Based on these interviews with 8 people, he calculated that 1 million Uyghurs are in camps. There were no study of satellite images, no on-the-ground research, no interviews with Uyghurs who actually live in Xinjiang, etc.
4. He has since raised that number to 3 million Uyghurs in concentration camps
5. His 'study' was then promoted by Radio Free Asia (media propaganda organization of the CIA)
FUN FACT : Uyghurs in China enjoyed privileges that the average Chinese citizen did not have including exemption from China's 1-Child Policy, affirmative action, etc. Many Uyghurs went to fight for ISIS in the numerous wars that the US has waged in the Middle East for the last 20 years. Many of these terrorists came back home to Xinjiang and brought radical Islam with them and started commiting terrorists acts including '2014 Kunming attack' where 35 people where killed. There are still Uyghurs terrorists locked up in US military prisons like Guantanamo Bay.
