This is one of my favorite movies

He really liked to swim

when is hiroyuki gonna add /rop/ - River of Pools

He was a neglectful father/husband/businessman, got broke, lost his mind, escaped or ran away from the asylum and went back to his social milieu as way to make sense of what had happened.
This movie is an all-time masterpiece and a very tough but important lesson. The sooner you watch it, the better.

He swims.

Holy shit, I’ve been looking for the story this film was based on for 10 years, but I was never able to find it. Thanks OP!

He was a materialistic and delusional Northeastern liberal, who only cared about status and appearances. Just like most Northeastern Liberals.

Too much pussy.

This movie was absolute shit.

Nice to see Frank Perry kino on 4channel.

50 year old alcoholics don't look that good

What took you so long? The Cheever story is mentioned on wiki, imdb and most of the places where the movie is talked about/reviewed.

I didn’t know there was a movie. I just read the short story once a long time ago. I had been looking for it ever since. When I saw this thread I looked up the film and saw that it was the same plot as the story I had read.

The excellent Grindhouse Releasing blu-ray includes the short story and a ton of other extras. The movie is a great adaptation, imo Lancaster's best role.

Thanks user, I’ll check it out!

did not see that coming

He was a huge fan apparently.

just goes to show you how much old white dudes used to be more culturally in power, these 56 year old guys with limp dicks would cast themselves with hot young 20 something year old babes and force themselves into the zeitgeist as sex symbols. pretty cringe in retrospect

Meanwhile most older woman stars at best could hope to be cast in shitty horror movies. Or as Jack Warner called it, hag-sploitation.

more proof nobody is as based as old white dudes

That still happens: most women would take a successful healthy 50 yo over a 20 yo nobody who never scored or never amounted to anything.
But the movie features none of the things you mentioned, in fact it's quite the opposite. Shove your shitty bitter agenda up your ass.

Remake when?
