There's a special middle ground in between fantasy space and Dystopian industrial space in which the Space Trucking genre exists.
Blending the majesty of the unknown with the horror of what humanity brings upon it into a comfortable blend of the monotonous life in between.
What's some media that manages to pull off the Space Trucking genre? Cowboy Bebop as a whole in addition especially in regard to the Heavy Metal Queen episode seems to work for this.
The expanse does this as well except the political intrigue present in the series tends to take it away from the hands of the everyman that resides in the genre.

just rewatched bebop for the 1st time in years. years and years. its okay, not really that great. that heavy metal queen episode was one of the one offs, which comprise maybe 2/3rds of the series. it had like nothing to do with trucking, just had a lesbian truck driver as one of the characters. fortunately she was never seen again for the rest of the series.

Space Dandy if you haven't seen it yet

Too light hearted for what i'm looking for. I'm thinking 83% serious 17% fun

>the Space Trucking genre
play EvE if you want to larp as a space trucker
then commit suicide for playing EvE and wasting your time as a space trucker
spoilers better still work on 4channel

the last verse of the song The Highwayman by The Highwaymen

Absolutely based

Excellent suggestion, user.

I played a lot of Elite Dangerous which was basically eurotruck simulator in space if you were doing rare goods trading

>literally one mediocre episode from a single TV show
>"genre"
At least you didn't add "-punk" to the end like the other retards.

i'm just trying to provide an example for the genre senpai. I'm sure there are more works that have the feeling that i'm looking for so i put forth one that has it.
Somewhere inbetween Star Trek TOS and Alien except it focuses more on everyday life of the people working in a space age society

die 15 year old

Just tell me to watch Red Dwarf already retard

I often come to /tv in the hopes of finding pictures that can make me coom

She wasn't lesbian

>lesbian truck driver
Except she literally isn't and her husband was a major plot point in that episode, you didn't watch shit.

How is one man this based?

The Expanse is okay

that faggot fucking game gave me a cracked code it didn't work on steam OR elite dangerous fucking chink-niggers.

Space Truckers. But it's a comedy
Magnetic Rose
Alien, obviously

Magnetic rose is a good example i didn't think of initially.
Did the Planetes anime end up being any good?

From what I remember it's amazing from the technical side of things, good animation, ship designs, station interiors etc. But the male was kind of an insufferable faggot at times. Still very much worth the time.

Wouldn't the first alien match this description?

yes but it needed some minor lightheartedness to it

Agreed with It also covers the bureaucratic aspects of missions and building large projects, and the human side of large organizations, which can be boring but I found it interesting.

> not really that great
> too much of a brainlet to even get the sexual orientation of a character whose name is discovered because of her HUSBAND
Yes, it checks out.

Not that user but Bebop is only as good as it is because it's anime which innately has a lower ceiling in terms of quality than regular film.
It's like how Cloverfield is regarded as a decent film but in reality it's just okay and just gets hype because it's found footage which also has a low ceiling.
What i'm trying to say here is that if someone makes a found footage anime it will be instantly acclaimed no mater the quality of it

...

This isn't an anime thread it just invokes it as an example for what i'm looking for in media.
I also would have accepted discussion of Harspace Shipbreakers or Elite Dangerous because it has what i'm looking for

What the fuck, what has Cloverfield anything to do with all of this? This is such a bizarre example.
Bebop is that good and I am quite sure that if you missed important and simple plot points you also missed a lot about all the character moements, references, atmosphere, theme of memory, guilt, loss, time and impossibility to go back that create the framework for the anime.
I would rather say that you approached it in a negative way BECAUSE it's an anime. I say this as someone that thinks 75% of anime is garbage. But This could just mean that CB could be ok, and not what it is. Which is "great".

That is what i said user. An anime is incapable of being a 10/10 because it maxes out at 8 due to its low ceiling

You sound like a moron and/or underage.

you read like ESL. Probably Pinoy

That is not what I said tho.
Along with this I have to conclude you are dumb, functionally illiterate or with some learning disability.
You are completely off-target user.

And now you are flailing because your insecurities have been exposed.

(you)

Don't mind me, just being the best blue collar space simulator around

>thinks cloverfield is ok
Jesus Christ user, say that you were just pretending and be done with it.

Still too early in development. No multiplayer. Kind of wish it didn't take place in a shipyard and had some element of space exploration and finding ships to break in various states of repair

Cloverfield is just okay. What do you think that means user?

Cloverfield was awful.
