I feel like people who say this isn't the best War movie are just being contrarian.

Its 2 movies really. There is the beach scene (10/10).....and then there is the rest (6.5/10).
Also the final fight is pretty ridiculous in terms of tactics.
Black Hawk down is mostly hailed as the best war film
Serious question. Would you consider Apocalypse Now a war film by pure definition? Because I feel like the war in this is more of a backdrop to what’s actually going on.
Yes and no. The war is a big part of it but it feels like more of a character study. It’s hard to explain.
The mission was fucking stupid. Tom Hanks won an oscar for acting like a retard. I hate the prick. Want to curb stomp him until theres nothing left.
If you can't explain it, then you don't understand it
brvtal
I mean the taxonomy of it lol. I love Apocalypse Now but I don’t know what to call it. There’s battle scenes but the final conflict feels like something out of Indiana Jones or some shit. Kino ending and I’m glad surfer dude lived
Watch more movies. Saving Private Ryan is a great movie, I don't fault anyone for calling it their favorite. But there are tons of war films that could contend for being the best. Apocalypse Now, Paths of Glory, Full Metal Jacket, Black Hawk Down, Platoon...
I've seen all those except Paths of Glory but I don't see how they're better than SPR? It's the most realistic war movie ever made.
das boot
Vietnam wasn't a war tho
I accidentally rented the 5 hour director's cut and didn't get the chance to finish it. What'd I miss?
bump
jewish allied propaganda
Nope. Nope. Nope. Definitely nope. Nope.
Try again. You fail.
It is an atrocious film.
Hello zoomer.
What did you just say ?
But what is the best war book?
The Iliad
>go in expecting a war movie
>its just a dime dozen trial shtick ive seen a million times over
disappointing desu
The Western front in Europe is easily the most boring part of World War 2. Even if the movie is technically competent, the subject matter is just way too dull compared to other war movies.
It might be or might not be. It is the easy choice cause while it is obviously great, unlike many other great war movies it has mass appeal. It makes it a point to be easily accessible. Platoon is the other option for easily accessible war movies.
Any of 15-20 can be argued to be the best, depending on if you could Apocalypse Now as a true war movies. If you do that takes the #1 spot. The Thin Red Line is the most underrated war movie of all time and arguably the best.
Platoon isn't that good. Thin red line is a good movie but it's barely a war movie.
It's not.
Interesting.
>actshually the sneed stenographer moral and physical coward executing POWs is the hero
It's dogshit and Inglorious Bastards -- to the extent it works as satire -- is playing off this film in particular in the opening 'baseball ' scene.
>Black Hawk down is mostly hailed as the best war film
Platoon is really good. It just isn't the go to option for easy to digest movie wars anymore now that we have Saving Private Ryan. SPR is clearly better than Platoon.
jew propaganda
remember the beach landing and the jew immediately cries when he see's a hitler youth knife?
The only thing wrong with killing POW is that they should have murdered the entire population of Germany, Italy, and Japan as well.
