I always thought it was a bit odd the way Moffat tries to direct episodes from the script, but I assumed it was a quirk of being a Showrunner or because it was a shooting script. Interesting to see he was doing it in first drafts during the RTD era too.

I'm rewatching nu-who and am almost done with season 4. I think that it's definitely the strongest Tenant season overall, which is weird because I remembered not enjoying it too much while it was airing. Maybe the finale is kind of weak?

Martha's season just has such a strong back end with the Family of Blood two parter into Blink into an excellent three part finale but honestly the first half of the season is pretty weak, even if I did like 42 a lot more than I probably ought to have liked it.

Season 2 had some excellent stand outs (Girl in the Fireplace and Rise of the Cybermen) and I enjoyed a couple of the other filler episodes (School Reunion and The Impossible Planet two parter) but it also had some real stinkers and the finale was just 'okay' in execution; though Daleks vs Cybermen was fun and had one of the best pieces of banter I can remember in the show.

How do you feel the Tenant seasons compare to one another?

>How do you feel the Tenant seasons compare to one another?
I think your assessment sounds pretty spot on. that block of episodes at the end of S2 is still possibly the most consistent the show has ever been. although, almost all of S1 is pretty consistently good too

>LARRY:
>This is radical! This is awesome! This is HD!!
what did Moffat mean by this

also, so far Sally has described the Doctor as having "gay hair" twice

I'm a bit confused about your use of S1 and S2. Do you mean just for the Tennant seasons or for the revival in general? Because if by S1 you mean 9 and Rose then I agree, S1 was way better than I remember it being and Eccleston did a much better job at being both funny and serious than I thought he did. However, that being the case I don't know if I'd say that the block of episodes in S2 (10 + Rose) is any good.

On the other hand, If by S1 you mean 10 + Rose I wouldn't say that almost all of it is consistently good. Fear Her, Idiot's Lantern, Tooth and Claw and kind of New Earth are all underwhelming to downright awful and Love and Monsters is a guilty pleasure of mine (almost entirely because of ELO) but I acknowledge it's quite bad as well.

Also, while I'm talking about Tennant; I thought that the Library 2 parter was excellent and noticed some strong parallels to the finale with 12 and Bill; right down to the stupid Deus Ex at the end draining all the emotional impact out of the moment. Though I think it felt a lot more justified in the Library episode. I forgot that River was a good character before Moffat just made me hate her.

I meant 9's season by S1, but I got S2 and S3 confused. my bad

Rose would’ve been the perfect companion if it was revealed that she moved on from the doctor and hooked up with a normal human male instead of giving her a personal ten clone and her own homegrown tardis

I'm gonna watch some 60s era Whokino, any story recommendations? I've got the first three stories (Unearthly Child, etc.) on DVD and they're pretty great, especially The Daleks, just to see how it all started. I think those and The Tenth Planet are the only Hartnell serials ive seen though. The Sensorites is supposed to be good yeah? Any historicals you lads can recommend? Also keen for some Troughton, I've seen Tomb of the Cybermen and loved it, I vaguely remember The Invasion being alright, but right now I'm meaning to watch The War Games I reckon. Any others? Complete (non-animated) preferred, tanks boys

Yeah that season finale was pretty shit in hindsight. I admire RTD for trying to wrap up his 4 year tenure in a grand ending, but it felt saturated and self-indulgent, especially with Torchwood + SJA tie-ins. Haven't seen End of Time in a long while but I think that was the better RTD finale

The Sensorites is hit or miss. I think a lot of people dislike it, but I don't see what's so bad about it. The Romans is a strong Hartnell-era historical, and watch The Time Meddler too if you haven't already. Avoid reading its synopsis or learning anything about it if you can.

As for Troughton, The War Games is excellent but you should watch The Mind Robber too.

>you will never write scripts for the BBC programme, Doctor Who (1963-1989, 1996, 2005 - present)
why live

Cheers user, these sound like good recommendations. I like 60s episodes with cool direction/visual storytelling, was quite impressive what they could pull off with black and white back then. Any recommendations in this regard too?

Give it a decade or so to get cancelled and revived again. Maybe it'll be a great beloved TV programme by 2035

No, sorry. I don't have a very good eye/memory for that kind of detail.

Don't lose hope user, maybe you've got a peng script in you that needs to get down on paper

I think the Mind Robber was one of the ones I was thinking of, it had some kino frames and shots from what I've seen

It definitely does some fun things visually. Moreso than most episodes.

I started the 2nd series of the EDAs and so far it’s a massive improvement from Series 1 and Further Adventures box set.

>present
It ended in 2017 user

>matrix sequels? what matrix sequels?? XD

Doctor Who is dead.

Doctor Who is FATED

It's like I can see it right in front of me, user.

Proof that Moffat needed RTD to reign in his stupid writing.

Have been listening to the War Doctor. Imagine we got a show with Hugh Lorie and that Avasarala actress. Yeah, me neither

I remember when retards here were defending Nurse Who.
Ah the good old days.

We don't like Chibnall either but retards like you are cringey as fuck.

What are you talking about?

You're trying too hard.

The Sensorites has a total of two good moments across its whole 6 part runtime. If you want actual early Hartnell kino, watch The Aztecs instead.

>ywn be a fresh faced kid just out of sixth form given a job writing what amounts to officially endorsed fanfiction of your favourite show and eventually become a central part of the fandom and the show itself
what's the fucking point
