I got hired to direct a $5 million prison drama for netflix. Script is so so. My no. 1 priority is that it's successful, gets the most amount of people watching it, and leads me to break out and get more jobs. Three of my filmmaker friends got similar deals and none of their movies took off. Anyone got any ideas how to stand out from the crowd and win big?

Cuties prequel

Do something different. Literally the number one thing that you can do, stand out from the crowd

Raping, blood, power groups, religious group, ethnic group, etc, all fighting for a little power in a corrupt and hostile prison. Throw in a big accident of some kind a riot, a fire, a tornado, big spiders. End with the skrulls infiltrating the prison, and doctor doom is the new boss.

make it a musical with gay sex and extreme homoerotic themes

>Anyone got any ideas how to stand out from the crowd and win big?
you won't if you are here asking for advice

Have something to tell

Wrong.
Watch every Orson Welles movie 1,000 times just like he watched every John Ford movie 1,000 times.
Then copy it, there's nothing new to be done at this point.
Good luck.
Post what you have made so far.

Do it from two different perspectives, say a guard and a convict. Perhaps with some animosity between the two to connect them, but demonstrate two differing realities of being an inmate and a corrections officer, and how they intertwine and interact with one another.

This is an amazing prison film user, update it. All the themes still ring true.

you realize if this is real, we will have this post archived and can trace is back and your career will be forever tainted - especially if you steal ideas from this board. but this is not real. hope you're having a fun wank fantasy

that is interesting because it has the guard as a major character
true but this place is the main audience demographic

the problem is that they watch closely so you don't make it too weird and artsy.

This is Brute Force (1947) not sure what happened with title(?) there.

Long quiet shots.
Symmetry and aesthetics.
Shocking violence.
Actual moral message.

>true but this place is the main audience demographic
for a prison drama? now you're ruining any credibility in your initial story

>moral message
Fuck off

rewrite the script so it's good

>you realize if this is real, we will have this post archived and can trace is back and your career will be forever tainted - especially if you steal ideas from this board.
It's actually an $8 million prison drama for Apple

Make it cool hand luke style. A likeable underdog character that refuses to be broken by the system. Audiences will eat that up.

What are you talking about?
Do you think one person writes a screenplay you fucking moron?
It might pass through ten hands , get filmed and then the director rewrites the ending.

Adapt the 10cc song "Rubber Bullets," it's about a wholesome prison sockhop/barn dance that gets out of hand and then shut down by the national guard with rubber bullets.
>can't you hear those convicts squeal, it's a shame these things ain't real

I got hired to direct a $55 million prison drama for hulu. Script is so so. My no. 1 priority is that it's posted here a lot by shills, gets the most amount of people memeing it, and leads me to break out and get more pimples. Three of my filmmaker friends got happy meals and none of their braps took off. Anyone got any ideas how to sperg out from the sneeds and win bigly?

>Netflix: Zig Forums, write some shit for me, I'll turn it into racist propaganda, then you pay for it, deal?

My best friend is a federal corrections officer, and he tells me how he is able to interact with the inmates determines how your day will go. He tries to build some level of mutual respect, but at the same time a firmness with his convicts. You show vulnerability, and they will jump you. Show them some level of decency, and more times than not it is returned. It is a juggling act, you have to try to walk in their shoes, with no real rule book as how to do so. As a CO, you have to figure it out for yourself, and the convicts that you overlook. Both perspective are essential to truly show prison culture. because it is a culture in its own right.

I agree.
Just make one of the greatest movies of all time OP, and you will be all set.
You will probably still have to suck off the other Weinstein but it's worth it in the end.

Amoral faggot, burn in hell degenerate filth

Just sneed yourself bro

Incredible insight, thank you user.
Serious question here, aside from your imaginary friend have you ever interacted with another human being?

user, I'm a librarian. Kind of hard not to.

can't since the production company want it as it is. but they said I can figure out new things on the set.

the Safdie bros post on Zig Forums and no one cared. Carruth also posts here sometimes.

Hey it’s that dude who raped that little blonde girl to death.

Has he been lynched like Leo Frank yet?
