Characters live in a universe where the supernatural exists and is easily provable

yeah, real life.

You're living in it

>"supernatural" or "paranormal" creature
>they're really strong or invisible or something but still interact with the laws of physics perfectly

is this the schizo thread?

>easily provable
Then prove it

How is it supernatural if its normally occurring?

>fat greasy guy in supernatural universe
>isn’t summoning succubuses to fuck his brains out
>even the succubus is grossed out by him but she’s binded by contract with the dark one to collect his soul so she has to

i love it in a film or show when everybody randomly decides to admit they all knew about all that stuff the whole time just didnt wana talk about it, like the buffy episode where they give her the class protector award

That's almost realistic in a way.

>Character is an atheist in a universe where it has been proven without a doubt that God exists
>Said character has met or seen proof of God
>Still chooses to be an atheist
Why do writers do this in tv shows, movies, comics, etc?

I like the twist they did on this on Supernatural. Dean was hunting monsters pretty much all his life, but refused to believe angels, the devil, & God existed. Boy did that show have some DBZ levels of power scaling

Because it cannot be explained by the known laws of the universe.

Unironically the biggest flaw with x files

>there are easy ways for an average person to attain magical powers
>they chooe to live boring normie lives
suspension of disbelief ruined

>doctor say schizophrenia real, therefore it real

Getting powers in those types of universes usually comes with the baggage having some kind of target on your back, whether it's directly or indirectly

To mimic real life

so is getting rich. dont see people getting bothered by it

Ghostbusters.

Family Guy
Fullmetal Alchemist

>black character has superpowers
>chooses to fight crime instead of causing it

holy crap lois this is like that time i fused meg and bryan

>Onward
>people don't bother learning magic anymore because Science is somehow easy and magic is hard

> Character is an atheist in a universe where it has been proven without a doubt that God exists

>supernatural exists and is easily provable

the issue in our current reality is replication of supernatural

There's a difference between an atheist and an anti-theist.

That's why it's called the SUPERnatural. If it obeyed the laws of physics and was scientifically-provably, it would just be Natural.

The catch-22 of the supernatural is that to verify it, you have to replicate it's demonstrated feats through scientific means, which are intrinsically 'mundane' on purpose so that a solid groundwork of ObservationxExprimentation can be laid to determine outcomes. It's a good system, but is also limited by design, (which is also good), but is still limiting.

It's actually kind of a crisis for modern physics, you can't use the scientific method for a lot of advanced physics experiments now and there's only so much 'dark matter' or something messing with the results to make replication impossible.

It's also why God can never be proved to exist via conventional scientific means.

30 And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent.

31 And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.

Not true. There is an argument going on in the scientific community atm if spending most of the fundamental physics budget on the upgrade to the LHC is the right way to go. CERN has found no new physics, it only confirmed existing theories. Wouldn't it be better to spend the billions on an upgrade on instead many other smaller but very different experiments?
