It's a good movie

It's a good movie.

It's not. It's just better in comparison to the rest of the post-OT Star Wars shit.

It could have been better.

This guy was super forgettable and really didn't have the screen presence to be the main male character.

It's literally not.

I wish there was more sex in star wars.

Imagine you were a grimy rebel and your next battle could be your last. You and Jyn Erso would be fucking like desperate animals in the nearest bush each downtime.

It's a good war flick, basically Guns of Navarone in space. Also one of the best space battles in the history of kinography.
Wanting it to have some ultra deep character drama misses the point.

Have you seen the porn? It's pretty good.

No it's not, it's just alright compared to the shitty trilogy so people pretend it's good

Same with Mandalorian. Average at best, it's syfy tier with a bigger budget and Star Wars skin

fpabp
(first post almost best post)
Solo is better but otherwise yeah

No it's not a good movie and it's even a worse star wars movie

fpbp

Rogue One was originally kino but Kathleen Kennedy didn't like it.
I hope one day someone will leak the Garreth Edwards cut.

its painfully boring. solo was the best disneywars

it's definitely better than Mandborian

Had the look and ship battles were cool but the story and characters were forgettable which the former can't make up for.

It also fucked up the opening to episode 4 by having Leia's ship there at the attack on Scariff which makes Vader's line of "this ship received several transmissions" make no sense. Vader wouldn't need to lie considering he actually saw the evidence get physically handed to someone on their ship. Leia's attempt at lying and saying she's on a diplomatic mission make no sense to which Vader should have cut her off and said "I literally saw your men get on this ship with a data card during the attack on Scariff and saw your ship leave the system with my own two eyes. Why are you even bothering to lie?"

yes. yes it is

No its not. Beyond the death star, Vader, and CGI-Tarkin it gave no sense of Star Wars at all due to Disney wanting to constantlly introduce new shit at the expense of throwing out the Lucas-era stuff.

And it was more human-centric bullshit of "diversity is a band of humans fighting white humans while aliens are hanging out at bars drinking fire-water" bullshit as made by people who still totally miss the point of what Lucas made.

Her father should have killed her. It would have made a better movie. I'm tired of this bullshit of saving daughters. It's everywhere in modern media.

>one star destroyer stays firmly in place while another is being pushed up against it by a tiny corellian corvette

THESE PEOPLE DON'T UNDERSTAND PHYSICS ONE FUCKING BIT

That was the point of it because of girl-power.

Its a serviceable flick*

It's the best nu Wars, and I am the world's biggest apologist for everything with my bun bun, but even I can't call it good.

>THESE PEOPLE DON'T UNDERSTAND PHYSICS ONE FUCKING BIT
The 2 star destroyers have lost their power, they can't maintain their orbit so one small push from a ship can move one of the destroyers, right?

When bar is so low it's next to dinosaur bones, literally anything can look good compared to the sequels.

Both would have been moved. There's nothing in space holding the second one in a fixed position. And the corvette wouldn't have had the power to push with that level of force, either.

>And it was more human-centric bullshit of "diversity is a band of humans fighting white humans while aliens are hanging out at bars drinking fire-water" bullshit as made by people who still totally miss the point of what Lucas made.
The only major alien characters in Lucas's movies are Chewbacca and Jar Jar.

i saw 2 or 3 minutes of it and i can say for certain that its shit

This movie was very poor in terms of general writing, structure, and cinematography. The acting is abysmally wooden for all the new characters excepting Mendelssohn and Mikkelsen, even Forest Whittaker, an otherwise highly respectable actor, phoned it in; he put more effort into his voice acting the character in the Fallen Order video game. If it wasn't Star Wars, but say set in WWII, it'd be shit on as one of the worst big budget movies of all time a la Pearl Harbor, because it's essentially the same movie. Even for Star Wars, its narrative entries into the lore are pointless wastes or outright offensive deconstructivism.
However the SFX artists' efforts to capture the visual aesthetic of the original trilogy era while producing new content for it is impeccable, top notch, and worthy of an Academy Award in their own right.

Solo is better than RO desu

Have you ever seen a tugboat?

Solo and Rogue One both have strong third acts as opposed to the sequel trilogy where those films all fall apart in their third acts. But let's not pretend both films don't start awkwardly and meander to try to get your attention because they can't rely on the classic star wars trick of the opening crawl cold open.

Mandalorian doesn't have this problem, because it is a serialized drama. Trying to tell a self contained story in star wars is always going to be a challenge. I wonder if Taika's film will be able to overcome this.

I don't mind nu-Star Wars flicks. The main trilogy was trash for the most part with some glimpses of occasional brilliance (TLJ only), but the side movies and the Mandalorian were pretty fun.

The star destroyer being sliced in half had its engines and stabilizers engaged. Of course it wasn't going to budge.

Star Wars is reddit.

It's in space. One little push is enough to move a SD, especially with the gravity starting to affect the ships.

>TLJ
>glimpses of occasional brilliance

You won't get any sense from the opinion spergers on this board.

I liked the themes. TLJ is the only movie in the trilogy that had them. Heroism, sacrifice, purpose. The way how these themes were handled was lackluster, bad even, but it was nice to get at least something other than the vacuum of ideas that was TFA and then the third movie.

He's right.
Giving Luke a believable and compelling character arc was the best decision the ST made

>I hope one day someone will leak the Garreth Edwards cut.
I think the Director's Cut of Godzilla 2014 had more action.

based and rogue pilled

Fuck you for saying this is good and then bashing the sequels. The sequels are far better. I know why you praise it. Mainly because of the aesthetic.

it was almost good except for the cringy kung fu shit. i like donny yen's movies but it was completely out of place in a sw movie

I think the main fuckup was not having a solid plan for 3 movies from the get-go. Probably should've just let JJ direct all 3, also.
Eh, I can buy the direction they tried to take with Luke, but it wasn't executed well whatsoever. And they completely and utterly wasted Finn and turned him into little more than comic relief.
