I don't understand this man. It apparent that he does have directorial skills as evidenced by Brick and Knives out, but he also chose to write and direct the worst movie of all time with the Last Jedi.A movie tat is so bad in terms of script, directing, acting, aesthetic and cultural reasons. The only motivation I can think of is that this guy is a troll.

The soul of man is truly an abyss.

All I'll say is
"Rey Skywalker!"

Don't forget that awful fucking make-up he made JGL wear in Looper.

Huh. It's almost like The Last Jedi is actually a good movie and you got brainwashed into hating it by butthurt YouTubers?

He's a shit lord who, while maybe in possession of talent, got too high sniffing his own farts before pooping out the TLJ turdburger

>manchildren still seething over TLJ
Why?

Name one good thing about it.

It closed off the Rey parentage mystery. Or at least it tried to... but J. J. couldn't let it go.

Cinematography

>worst movie of all time is the last jedi
watch more movies

Brick is so good that I wonder if he really wrote/directed it now.

The only good thing I'll say about TRoS is that while it is utter shit, it seems to be trying. While TLJ is utter shit, and it seems to be looking at you in the eyes as it is defecating in your mouth, with a slight, content smile.

Having mystery is bad in movies?

By cinematography do you mean having big red drapes on the set for that one fight?

I meant that in a wider cultural context, destroying one of the biggest and most beloved franchises by shitting all over it. Its the "worst" if you take that in to account, and not just bad on its own.

No, I meant cinematography. What you just described would be production design and set decorating, though it's still inaccurate.

I'm asking because usually people point to this shot as proof of good cinematography. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on what makes the cinematography in this movie, since you seem to know what the word means (sadly not a given)

TLJ was purposefully shit, he was mocking disney and the modern "fandom"

He's a contrarian asswipe bitter that he's a round headed squeaky voiced apex beta omega who was shunned by Stacey and is desperate to prove how alpha he is by destroying something geeks and nerds like him love. The equivalent of cutting your own cock off to spite your father!!!FACT!!!

>Cinematography

TLJ is as ugly as Ruin Johnscum's soul!!!FACT!!!

No he means cinematography you braindead zoomer. TLJ was a shitshow but the cinematography was still great. TLJ is only a shit film in terms of writing.

Generally I just think there are a lot of striking compositions throughout, good use of locations, attempts to actually convey things to the viewer visually, with the way things are blocked, and through use of colour (whether you like the themes being conveyed or not, clearly some don't).
Abrams is obviously good at polishing things and trying to make them exciting, but it's all very surface level, things being done essentially for immediate impact and distraction rather than to actually try and say anything of substance.

Agree on everything you said about JJ. It feels like he's earnestly trying, but he's just a hack. As for Johnson, i think you also nailed it. Themes are visually conveyed, the problem of the movie is not the conveying, it's the theme.

Like it would hurt less to be insulted by a blabbering retard, than it would being insulted by someone who speaks like Keats writes.

The man did not simply take a huge dump on the franchise, he took a masterfully crafted dump on the franchise.

In the end I think he helped wean a lot of people off of star wars and big movie franchises in general, so I guess it was a good thing that he put so much effort and craftsmanship into spewing diarrhea over the audience.

Joke's on you, i went into the cinema hopeful and excited and left confused and angry

A guy who believes it's ok to make your main lead look like this is definitely a bad director.

star wars was always bad, nothing but a merchandising gimmick, same as harry potter. stop watching and caring for films made for children. expand your taste and maturate.

ive seen the last jedi 6 or 7 times, I genuinely think its the best star wars movie ever made

He's just extremely fucking arrogant. He might have talent, but what he did to Star Wars shows he thinks that he's better than everyone else

He purposely made this movie wrong. As a joke.

This but unironically. He thought he was being daring, giving audiences something to show them that he knew better. Turns out all he did was film himself jerking off for an hour and a half

Never seen a single youtube video about it yet I think it's the big budget movie ever made, AMA

To protect JJ Abrhams.
Unironically. They made the last jedi the fall guy even though Abrhams made 2/3 of the shitty series and his movies are actually worse.

Nah. Abrams movies may not have been great but they at least enjoyed the fact that they were Star Wars movies.

Johnson's movie felt like he was just off screen the whole time, whispering about all of the reasons Star Wars is for babies. Which makes it weird that Zig Forums doesnt love his movie

Last Jedi is the best of the nu-trilogy, and pretty much the only one worth watching.

only star wars movie worth watching

Did you like any of the other movies before?

I genuinely believe this. If anything, that's the only thing that explains is behavior in interviews, his interactions on twitter, and the way Mark Hamill talks about the shooting of the movie.

Third post best post

It's not his fault. People just can't direct other people's franchises properly. It works so rarely. Especially setting-heavy fantasy nonsense like Star Wars, where the original author has the whole world in his head, and now some random newcomer is supposed to continue the thread. As if that ever worked.

It shit on Star Wars fans

>Having mystery is bad in movies?
Not what he said at all.

I grew up watching the special editions on VHS as a child and also watched Phantom Menace 3D rerelease twice in cinemas as a kid.

i watched the sequel trilogy as a teen.
