What did you think of this movie?
What did you think of this movie?
>sets up a meeting with the first reporter that calls
national socialism is a jewish psyop that destroyed global white hegemony
>nice night for a mosque
pretty good. was surprised to see that actor playing the journalist since id only seen him in comedies.
I liked Spiderman.
I thought Ryan Goslings character had a stupid motive, and they tried to simplify his hatred to "TheY HavE BiG nOsEs AnD Their EViL!!!!" Like they should have at least given him some even minor justification for becoming an extremist. They don't really give a good explanation between him being a child doubting his teachings in jew-school and him trying to literally blow up a synagogue.
WASH DAY TOMMOROW, NOTHING CLEAN?
It's a combination of disliking Judaism and feeling shame for being victims. When they talk to the Holocaust survivors he gets extremely upset asking them why they didn't fight back. Another telling moment is when he says Israelis aren't Jews because they have their own country and military and whatever.
I still don't understand the ending really.
I get that, but what I mean is nothing really happens to him that explains why he would become so extreme in the first place. Like as an example if you were making a movie about a guy who wants to kill all blacks and it turns out that he was mugged by a black guy once which explains his motive.
Game over man!
he is Jewish but doesn't like himself.
truth is us nigga been running this game from the start. judaism is just an Egyptian psyop started by black kings to take over the world with the perfect scapegoat.
oh i get it now
First film of Gosling that I ever saw, way back when I was a kid.
I remember finding it pretty intense but also quite good.
I mean some people just get radicalized for no real reason, they're just looking for an outlet for hatred. He was already mad at Jews/Judaism since he was a boy so it's what he focused on. Most people that hate Jews were not targeted by a specific Jewish person either, it's usually a more abstract reason like reading about their supposed involvement in various institutions.
Whenever I read about a mass shooter I get the distinct impression they don't actually care that much about their supposed reason for doing it, whether that be radical Islam, or White Nationalism, or whatever. They are all kind of the same type of person, angry, antisocial, sort of narcissistic, etc. You also see this type of person, though less extreme, that just jumps from extremist ideology to ideology, a communist becoming a nazi, a Nazi becoming really into Christianity or Islam.
Where the fuck does someone buy a swastika shirt
>I mean some people just get radicalized for no real reason
I get that too, but its still a movie and hes still the protagonist, albeit a flawed one. To better understand the motives of the main character makes him seem more human and less like a cartoonish villain, which he does explain, I just felt like it wasn't a good enough reason.
What do you want him to say?
"Jews made me gay!"
The way the movie is structured is that his anitsemitic actions are a result of critiquing the Jewish God for cruelty, so it's a crisis of faith, hence the title. He rejects the faith but remains fascinated by it, it develops into hatred by the time he's a young man, who is clearly not well integrated with society though he's smart and eloquent, he has a broken sense of identity that he represses into further hatred, and a naturally combative, dominating personality.
irl he would probably be diagnosed with some mood or personality disorder I guess because his actions are sort of cartoonishly antisocial as you point out. I suppose the mixture of the religious framing with his obvious dysfunction is a bit messy, it cheapens the ideas being dealt with somewhat when the guy is obviously also just a fucked up person in general. But I don't think the character himself is unrealistic, I have actually met people like that and they don't have any real good reason for being that way.
I dunno man I feel like something should have at least happened to him
Because if they gave valid reasons, that would make him look sympathetic. Better to make his reasons cartoonish to keep the ledditors from having too much to think
There is no valid reason to do what he did to that nerdy Jew on the bus. Jews being involved in banking or communism or whatever doesn't mean you can just beat up random kids for no reason but being Jewish. Bombing a synagogue is also obviously unforgivable regardless of your feelings about Jews.
he visited Zig Forums
That’s literally what pol says
Like everything out of the Sodom of Hollywood, it can't even be in the same galaxy as Facism. Any honest portrayal of the subject would only recruit new facists.
>The moral of the story is that all neo-nazis who openly advocate for violence are Jewish FBI agents
I wasn't expecting the movie to have such a specific as well as such an accurate theme, but it sure hit it home.
>"Oh good, a thread about a decent film that tackles antisemitism. I'm sure Zig Forums will have nuanced and educated opinions and no one will call me a nigger."
nigger
people that dress up their pets and make them do gay shit like that should be lined up against a wall and shot
the thread has been fine so far, you are the first post that says nigger
Ryan Gosling used to be truly beautiful.
