Reminder that STL is one of 3 independent cities in the US outside of Virginia, which is a retard state that has like 40. Because of STL's stupid ass layout and the way cities get compared, it constantly is ranked near or at the top of violent crime/murder per capita lists, but if you look at the Greater STL Area (including the much much larger surrounding county) then it's nowhere near the top.
STL Metro area is 20th in the US in population, but if you rank purely by what's defined as the city itself, it's 65th. If you rank cities by area, it's not even in the top 150 in the US.
IIRC if you look at violent crime per capita by greater metro areas the top is Anchorage/Memphis/Albuquerque.
No one cares but this always bothers me. Baltimore is one of the other 3 independent cities in the US outside of VA so they probably have the same problem. Lived in STL for like a decade, not even in a particularly nice/suburban area and I never felt unsafe.
