Why did the other cast members hate him?
Why did the other cast members hate him?
He was a very Hollywood actor. Not a big star, but from a Hollywood family, acustomed to that way of acting, how movies are made and how to behave on set. Not sure if they hated him, source?
It’s just a meme.
They did? I always thought John Rhys-Davies was the odd man out since he was a lot older and didn't want to do the whole hanging out smoking pot thing with the rest of them
Also I heard they gave Dominic Monaghan a lot of shit for being pampered
yeah hate is a strong word, he definitely comes across as a bit of control freak, they make fun of it a little bit in the bts and cast commentaries, so I'd guess he probably was the most 'hollywood' and difficult to work with at times.
His wife had a baby during filming and he fucked off after filming to be with his family instead of getting shitfaced with the cast
>rich and elite prep school actors calling anyone else pampered
He was uptight and didn't mesh socially with the rest of the cast/crew dynamic. He also spent time bitching about samwise and hobbits and wanted to do more cool stuff onscreen. Overall nothing bad though.
John was an old man and didn't want to hang out with a bunch of young dudes getting drunk and tattoos and shit, Ian had energy for that because he's a gay theater dude
a divide between the old/young actors is common, I don't think it was a big deal though they still liked him, remember on the making shit on the extended edition he was great for telling stories about people he'd worked with over the years, and Dom talking about the main fellowship all going out for dinner and John took charge and ordered a feast that would have fed 40 people, they liked him even if he wasn't a bro hanging out all the time.
Unironically what Sam did in the book too
Basically this.
The story of him trying to marshal in helicopters sounded pretty endearing desu
Sean Bean is a massive pisshead, remember the story when he filming GoT he got stabbed in a bar and just went back to drinking. Legolas and hobbits were in their 20s, mckellen was probably hoping to roofie their drinks and rape asses.
yeah. but then realise, trying to direct professional pilots, like he has any idea what he's doing, that's his controlling personality all the time, he probably gets insufferable at times.
Unironically where are you lads getting these anecdotes? I'm not doubting you I just want to watch or read all this shit myself, it sounds kino as fuck
Lol sir Ian what a geezer
same, I watched all of the extras on the dvds, but you dont get too much good gossip on them
by being old and seeing the movies when the came out, being hype, reading stuff about it as they happened. a lot of it is in the making of documentaries in the extended editions and cast commentaries on the movies.
>they make fun of it a little bit in the bts and cast commentaries
>A bit of banter means they hate him
They'd be more likely to stay quiet if they actually did have an awful time with him so as to not start shit
I read the book he wrote about the experience of filming LOTR. Even when he is in control of the writing and can put himself in the best light possible, he still comes off as a whiny, controlling buzzkill who appointed himself the 'grown-up' on set to lecture and scold everyone else for having fun or doing dumb shit. Constantly bitched about how so-and-so wanted to do something dangerous and he had to try and stop them for their own good.
TL;DR: What a little puss.
the extended edition making of is a goldmine of comfy stories
youtube.com
>he's a gay theater dude
which is the best kind of dude desu
I agree it's a ridiculous thing to do, but what I mean is that whoever was telling the story (Dominic I think?) made it sound endearing, not like they resented him for how he was.
this. MacKellen must've been a blast to hang around during the filming downtime
He and I share the same birthday.
like that time Elijah Wood lost bet and had to lick Dominic Monagan's foreskin, lol
you wish fag
Think about it logically...
i don't get why Zig Forums tries to force this thing about the hobbits hating sean. the only thing i gather from the commentaries is that they made fun of him for being a boomer in a lovingly way.
Nice source faggot.
We need to fatten Jackson back up again and give him his soul back bros.
Exactly. I want to believe that the production of these movies was just as magical as the BTS material makes it seem, and I literally see no reason not to believe so. It's even one valid reason for why the movies turned out so great
obviously they're only going to have nice anecdotes in the official material, not shitting on other cast members, but even being nice he was still being painted as a bit of a control freak, it was just the tip of the iceberg.
Based father
Gandalf also hated him and made him cry. Sam talks about it in that book another user mentioned.
no, YOU wish, FAG
