WTF it's actually good

WTF it's actually good.

Yeah. It was generally well received but the ones who didn't like it were extra loud.

unironically one of the better mainstream sci-fi films of the last decade.

I liked most of the movie but it seemed to get dumber as it went on. Covenant was awful.

>Scientist scared of empty ship want to go home
>Gets lost
>Sees alien snake
>Immediately gets face to face with it and wants to touch it

Hired a real winner there Weyland

Studio made the mistake of thinking a vocal minority represented the whole fanbase and rushed Scott to get to the Alien stuff, minimising the Prometheus elements. Then it came out and loads of fans asked why they did that, because the only people fully satisfied by the change were ones who just wanted to see things they recognised. Like a dry run for what happened on the recent Star Wars films.

>Guy who thinks alien god theory is nonsense and laughs at the believers is wrong and gets utterly fried by it
>Sees something he thinks he can handle because it's closer to his wheelhouse, is wrong, dies for it
>But yes, Vickers, who very clearly thought the mission was a waste of time, clearly didn't spring for the finest

At the time, Aliens aren't scary anymore.

WTF you’re actually retarded

the concept and directing was really good, but the script was full of holes

Outside of David's behavior, most "holes" are just cherrypicks.

It was good but not amazing like Alien and Aliens. As a standalone sci-fi movie it was good but we really didn't need a backstory that explains the origins of the xenomorph because it ruined the mystery surrounding it (also the engineers). In short it didn't need to be made.

No its not

One of the first parts in writing a script is making believable characters. None of the characters in Prometheus were believable.

They exist and they impact the plot

so no they aren't "cherrypicks"

Furthermore, the story never moved in an organic way. The characters actions pushed the script along instead of the characters actions being determined by the story. The entire movie is backwards and shows Ridley has lost it.

Yeah the whole cinematic thing of "the Prometheus school of running away from things" gets my goat.

Anyone who's ever been in a life or death situation can tell you rational thought is one of the first things to go and the lizard part of the brain kicks in.

>The characters actions pushed the script along instead of the characters actions being determined by the story.
It's supposed to be the other way around, retard.

If your characters only act in ways that happen to be convenient for your preferred story beats, you typically end up with massive contrivances, which is what happened here

Whereas if your characters act consistently to how they were originally set up, everything that happens after the initial incident will be organic and natural

Thats actually incorrect Ridley. I'm sorry people hated your film.

Here's the thing, though:
LIZARDS ARE NOT THAT RETARDED
It's one thing to be irrational, it's another thing to be fucking stupid

Nigger I just explained you why Prometheus sucks

and it sucks for a reason opposite to the one you mentioned

Wrong.

Prometheus was maybe the dumbest big budget scifi movie I had ever seen up to that point. It got progressively worse as the movie continued. The only, ONLY saving grace of the movie is that it literally saved my friends life.

Cross off removing helmets because that was perfectly safe

That's how it usually is. Fucking filter victims piss me off.

Covenant ruined everything Prometheus worked towards. Fuck Covenant.

How? Is he a screenwriter who realised after seeing this bullshit that he wasn't as bad as Ridley Scott?

I like it and always have. I think Covenant is perfectly fine too. I don't know what people were expecting. The engineers are a bit goofy but it's fine, plenty of gore and body horror and people getting killed by aliens. The black goo was fine and I liked that David turned out to be the engineer of the xenos, I like that Scott made it:
Engineers -> humans -> Androids -> xenos
Seems cool to me

its not that it was bad, its that it promised these answers but really only set up the idea that answers would come, then said we'd get them in a sequel, then they made an alien movie killing off all the aliens in a tiny flashback to say 'no, you will never get answers'.

also it makes no sense that this happens to be just like the OTHER moon with a space ship just like theirs falling over in the exact same way.

It is, most of them are just stupid for not knowing appreciate the good things.

Prove it

no it’s not you faggot!

>cherrypicks
You mean pointing out lazy writing?
"Atmosphere is 3% carbon dioxide."
Leaving out that Earth's carbon dioxide level is 0.083%.
Plus, that a breathable atmosphere still doesn't mean there aren't alien pathogens
ready to Kill You Dead.
Whoa. That's definitely award-winning writing right there.

why does a biologist get freaked out seeing a long dead decaying alien body?

It's not even a fair criticism as they quite clearly change direction but it rolls after them. The thing is absolutely colossal and they're panicking.

>It was generally well received but the ones who didn't like it were loud
>Wrong
>Prove it
>Explain one character's motivation in one scene even though it has already been explained in this thread

the premise was better than the execution, like most of the films in the franchise. it's the biggest attempt at a Weyland Utani payoff at least

>Leaving out that Earth's carbon dioxide level is 0.083%.
The point is that they can't breathe outside the ship
>Plus, that a breathable atmosphere still doesn't mean there aren't alien pathogens ready to Kill You Dead.
If there were any weird alien pathogens, they would have detected them. Besides, the planet itself is pretty much barren, there isn't any room for pathogens to grow.

>pathogens can't grow but it totally supports human life
this shit is so stupid, i wish movies would just either embrace realism or not bother with it at all. Same with audiences. I get tired of 'but thats not realistic' so? watch a god damn documentary.

its good, the only thing bad about it is how the scientists acted like unprofessional morons

In all Alien movies, cryosleep creates crystals in the brain and makes humans act stupid.
That’s my headcanon and I’m sticking to it.
