Everything had more soul back then because our society is designed to slowly turn us all into NPCs

best soul was early 90s imo and yes it was because it was less produced and less formulated

>lower video quality
youtube.com/watch?v=anpizq4cyrc&t=47

They didn't, really; they just had honesty. Tbh they were actually very 'plastic' and bright and polished.

Music videos never had soul. They've always been frivolous entertainment for the masses.

They were a bit more genuine and drawing from something in themselves

Everything nowadays are focus tested to death and market researched to be the most profitable

>best r&b/soul
>early 90's
>not the late 60's / early 70's
You're out of your goddamned mind, user.

Lack of data. Everything before 2010s had more soul because it was quite literally people just throwing shit against the wall and trying to see what sticks. That's why you had that upstick in randumb bullshit marketing in the early 2000s because they were trying to make sense out of chaos (unfiltered data from the early internet). As we started to hone data collection, demographic identification, and algos to sort it all out; everything started to become sterile. Look at the modern corporate advertisement, it feels too perfect in how mundane it is.

In the 90s you were allowed to be edgy and attention grabbing because that was the only way to stand out to literally anyone. In 2020, you don't want to be attention grabbing, you want to be "effective" at hitting core demographics.

Why do retarded boomers always confuse nostalgia with soul?

Attached: 1602956201520.png (813x870, 528.94K)

There are so few things to be truly nostalgic about after the 2010s because everything is so generic. Anything that was is like... social media platforms (Vine) or outliers from one off emergent moments and creators (Minecraft)

>So, the thing about marketing is...
>You don't want to be attention grabbing
This might be the stupidest thing you've ever posted to the internet, user.

Great answer, makes a lot of sense.

Speaking of soul, here’s a video I found recently while watching old episodes of Beavis and Butt-Head: youtu.be/Q1I7UZ0K0jA. Never knew the Goo Goo Dolls sounded like that.

It's mainly just zoomers and millennials whose senses of nostalgia are built on consumerism.

>misinterpret for snarky reddit joke
user..i..Think you're a faggot harry..

Many 2000s music videos had a disturbing appeal to them that is almost completely lacking today

lol it's literally on the same album, dum dum. Did you not own it? It's a great record but there are literally a half a dozen or more tracks that sound like this and are this good, starting with Long Way Down. You could have posted We are the Normal and been surprised because it's from a previous record, but it doesn't sound that different either. The reason you're "surprised" is because they made almost no money off their biggest hit, Name, because they were retards who got fucked in their contract. So they spent the rest of the 90's trying to recreate it (figuratively, then quite literaly). That's why most people think they are a power ballad band, but mid-tempo soulful simp cuck-rock is kind of their thing.

newer industry means more chances taken on the directors etc after it stagnates people just pay for generic tried and true garbage. also in general there will be monopolization/nepotism as it stagnates.

2000s were soul overload in general.
youtube.com/watch?v=6YsNRnZRgg8

Things have more soul as we look further back in time because we are becoming culturally and artistically stagnant from modernity. The last time things were this bad was the 1950s. Something will give eventually though.
