What is the die hard is a Christmas movie of /film/?

why is it that whenever mutts are awake the threads get worse

Just started with Costa-Gavras. Any particular order I should watch his films?

Attached: z.jpg (1288x1600, 223.53K)

was he?

There's nothing I hate more than plain, intimate human drama in films. It's womanly emotional pornography. Exchanges of love, sophistication, and beauty are perfected in writing. A shot of two people in a room adds nothing. A voiceover adds nothing. Only you are replaced by a more attractive version to fantasize about.

Spectacle, whimsy, theatricality are the realms of film. Unlike a book, immediate visual and musical engagement with the audience is necessary, there being only a few hours to work.

Chronological

Chemical and physical castration + severe case of retardation and lowbrowness

youtube.com/watch?v=eBjvjKWIxuI
is this an example of that

your post is worded ambiguously but this shot is magnificent. It doesn't look like a backdrop. Not plain at all.

Post the following:
>your favorite film when a girl asks
>your favorite film when /film/ asks
>your actual favorite film

I'll start:
>In the Mood for Love
>Man with a Movie Camera
>The Seventh Seal

>worst posters
>worst film industry
Really piques my pistachios.

sorcerer

sorcerer

also nice bait picks

Chungking Express for girls
Actually The Brown Bunny

I watched yesterday The Shop Around the Corner. It was okay.

L'Eclisse
L'Eclisse
L'Eclisse
You sound like a bitch.

Every CostaGavras film is great except the Varoufakis one and the one with the emigrant (and the israeli one and the one with John Travolta)
But the rest are great...

I don't talk to girls
The Ascent
Andrei Rublev

>I don't talk to girls
Why

Why is Adults in the Room bad?

Every time I start talking to a girl it begins really good, but then I start having feelings for a girl who just wants to be friends

Kek, how old are you?

Well, good luck being banned my man.

it'll be the third fucking time now

Posting Shelley, for the user in the last thread who said he loved waifuposts in /film/ :)

To be fair, she did earn that award at Cannes for pic related

Just appeal and say you are older and it was a joke.
She is ugly af. Waifuposting is a scourge.

>Climax
>Andrei Rublev
>Late Spring

It's not bad, but certainly isnt good. Also it's too centered in Varoufakis' POV.

Ok, Costa Gavras wants to make Schalube, Dijsselbloemm and Moscovici the punching bag of jokes; that's fine. I'm certainly not a fan of them; but if you dont open up the scope of what's really going on behind the scenes, the whole movie ends like one note played again and again.

She’s a delicate fawn, get over yourself.

Crackhead with bad teeth

Really great prompt
>your favorite film when a girl asks
Usually Dogtooth or Taxi Driver, but depends on the girl (I'm kinda fucking with them if that isn't clear)
>your favorite film when /film/ asks
Wings of Desire or The 400 Blows
>your actual favorite film
Blow-Out

But none of these movies are what I would rewatch the most

I'm just angry at the abuse Kubrick threw at her

Being an asshole doesn't automatically make you a great filmmaker

How do you guys watch movies on your tv?

That's not abuse you absolute retard.

Kubrick absolutely had a part in worsening Duvall's mental health

I missed this image

INCONSISTENT IMAGE

She was schizo and would end up being a schizo. If she wanted to stop her mental illness she shouldn't have taken projects from demanding directors. Also he didn't do anything to her. Only demanded lot of takes and that the crew doesn't treat her like some star which is fair. Her fault.

>I'm just angry at the abuse Kubrick threw at her
Don't be too mad. She came around to it.

>The instances where it's the only available source are rare.
That entirely depends on what films you watch. For example, I hosted a film night with my friends last weekend, two of the films we watched weren't available anywhere except Dailymotion, chopped into two parts.
>Film should be watched in the best possible quality.
Would you say someone who has watched only VHS films on a CRT monitor has been doing it wrong the whole time? I guess for films that rely entirely on scenery and composition, there's an exception, but then again, I don't hold style over substance with much reverence.

>worst film industry
Current maybe. But I'm sure India is much worse.

Amelie
Death In The Land Of Encantos
Stalker

the real problem isn't Americans, it's film elitists who don't actually care about cinema, but act like pic related

wtf people actually care about movies

Gremlins
Critters 2
Gremlins 2

Is it unanimous that money destroy every purity on cinema? Do you think Nolan or Speilberg can make a half decent movie with a 2 million budget?

A lot of times girls don't know what they want - I'm not saying this always ends well but if you're clear and straightforward about wanting something more than friendship, you have a better shot. They take your "respect" for disinterest, it's a turnoff.

But also they still may hook up with you and still decide to just be friends lol, that's worst than being "friendzoned" lol

PC/laptop HDMI to TV

I'm of the opinion that with film, you're either just "documenting" realities, or creating the illusion of them. Not just creating a negative scenario yourself, and then documenting that - they're called actors, let them act. Not the worst thing a filmmaker has done, by far, but I don't think his approach should be lauded here, even if Duvall wasn't the greatest performer or had other issues. I liked how he approached performance with McDowell in A Clockwork Orange more.

India has multiple film industries, Tollywood/West Bengal cinema is considered good. I wouldn't discard any film industry as a whole either.

You're a comfy guy

Nolan probably couldn't, Spielberg could have at some point in his career. I don't know if he still has it in him anymore.

Why not? Following and Duel were pretty cheap to make
