Is it really inevitable? I don't really see the point of making movies from games that were already basically movies. Even the Metal Gear Solid movie is a weird choice for me. Like, some games are loved for their gameplay and they have fun characters - those games can be made into movies because the story doesn't matter. Mario, Sonic, Angry Birds, stuff like that. Basically games with marketable characters, but games that are beloved for their story are not a good choice for adaptation because you are going to be competing with a story that was already executed well, you have a really high bar to hit.

I mean, I fell like you are just going to want them to make a carbon copy of the story you already love, but the studio knows that's a bad idea because who wants to see a story that's a carbon copy of a story they already know? So the studio will make them change the story and then the audience who is coming to see the story they like will be disappointed.
