I liked it

never heard of it, sell me on it

If you read the comics you would abhor this show you faggot

tulip fucking sucks and got me to drop it

I heard Jody in the show isn't the non-autistic version of Anton Chigurh he is on the comics

Also, I assume one of those three is Cassidy. Where are the shades?

cringey propaganda

Dropped after first season

>it's a Jesse and Tulip spend the whole time in bed saying how great their sex is and agreeing with whatever piece of opinion Garth Ennis has this month issue
Is the show as bad as this? Cause this shit was fucking cringe

3 jews read a (now legendary) comic about mixing the old cowboy myth with a new christian creation myth and came out with such a unique piece of fiction that it'll either completely turn you off with its uniqueness or get you really hard.

pitch 2: it's a southern western with an irish vampire and an angry woman who fucks up a lot but is still pretty cool.

pitch 3: theres a guy whos named arse face

Is that supposed to illustrate your point? because it simply does not. In fact it just shows how much better Ennis is at writing stereotypical "strong" women (far from his forte) than the hacks at the helm of most modern shows/comics are.

I read comics and I'm not going to debase myself by watching Seth Rogan's television adaptation.

Does the show have the balls to show Cassidy's true colours?

i love the comic, even though it has many flaws
i tolerated the show, but it just felt fucking wrong most of the way through, especially the 3rd and 4th seasons.
Cassidy was perfect, Jesse should have been an actual american and not some english twink putting on a bad accent, and tulip was the constant low point of the show the entire way through

i liked the characters more than the actual plot. final season was a let down

>Is that supposed to illustrate your point?
No, it was just some Tulip Jesse pic I found

Tulip is a good characters, but her conversations with Jesse are awful. But those are not the only time Garth spreads his propaganda

thats one of the things i wanna have a discussion about. i read the first 3 volumes a few years back and hated the comic, then watched the first season and dropped it cause idk.

But I returned to the comic just recently and was blown away by it. Honestly felt like it changed my outlook on life. Then I watched season 1 and went "why the fuck would they make these changes and why the fuck would they drag issue one into an entire season".

BUT I'm halfway through season two and maybe im givin them the benefit of the doubt but I feel like Seth and Evan have had more than a decade to think on this comic and made the changes they did just to better *adapt* the story in a more television friendly way. I don't feel like their changes are like a marvel movie's exec's coked-up "my story is better" way of thinking.

i fail to understand in the slightest

yeah there was a lot of tulip/jesse fuckin in the comic, but i did think it was interesting to see jesse try to reason with his john wayney "girls gotta b protected" when tulip wasnt that lady. but its had to see things from tulips side when her two male counterparts literally had superfuckingpowers.

:(

only halfway through s2 but i swear to god if they dont i will kick my screen through a wall. but so far, he's kinda being portrayed as a prick a little too hard and too early. just talked to a guy who said he dropped the show cause he couldnt stand cass.

expanding, Starr was great casting, but they honestly could have done a lot less of him being mutilated
God was a good casting choice, but they spent far, far, far too much fucking time with him actually on screen, and the entire "replacing the human race" motivation was total ass
Arseface was pretty lame the entire way through, and should have been a hardcore side-plot like he was in the comic
Graham Mctavish was great as The Saint, but was let down in the extreme by the writing
the angelville arc sucked, they got all the characters except for TC wrong, somehow
the whole thing with Hitler was initially amusing, but every scene with him in the 4th season was just absolute fucking torture in the guise of ironic humour, same deal with Jesus
overall, i'd give the show a 4/10, it generally held my attention, but doesnt even close to hold up under any sort of scrutiny

woah cool post breh. no real spoilers but enough to give me info on what im in for.

I was kinda worried that they werent gonna go far enough with Starr's "motivation" but i wonder wat they gonna put out. It's cool to see arseface have a bigger role but i still dont get how he told him to go to hell when it clearly aint work like that. FUCK, they're gonna let me down with how the saint ends, huh? Excited bout angelville, excited to see that bitch burn, yeehaw. You're telling me i gotta watch more than one episode more of this hitler character. Fuck.

If it do really be a 4/10, at least they tried, right?

this was a thoroughly enjoyable show that left me with good memories and fondness for the characters

joke's on you, i consumed both media and was pleasantly entertained by both, because I'm not autistic, and i appreciate the needs of different mediums.

Isn't Zig Forums nothing but pedo board by now?

idk i just filter out anything that's not comics so like.....

yes. you're right i guess

I would agree with you having only watched the first 10 or so minutes because of how fucking bad the setup was for the female lead when you're first introduced.

> Main female lead goes into a house after her car crashes outside. There are 2 kids, boy and girk.
> For some reason the boy asks this strange woman whose just walked into their house where her boyfriend is.
> Female lead looks at the little girl and says some line about how girls can look out for themselves or some shit.

If the starting dialogue is that heavy handed to force a yasss queen moment, it's not surprising this shit was cancelled.

i uh feel like u got some personal bias about women in general cause how the fuck do you remember anything about that scene other than the fucking idiotic retard idea that she builds a rocket launcher out of tin cans and duct tape? what the ffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff

>Needs
What the fuck are you talking about needs? Are you implying road movies/tv shows don't exist? Can't wait to see the mental gymnastics.

Preacher is a story that could be adapted panel by panel to the screen. There is nothing in Preacher that hasn't been regularly used in mainstream cinema. Angels and God plots are common. Badass cowboys are common. Shitting on Christians and Catholics is common.

chill. he made a valid point that isnt an attack on u. it ok.

a simple example would be the way they introduced the saint o killers. They spent parts of the first season in between breaks and scene changes to build him up. whilst in the comic they were able to have two pages where an angel opens up a coffin or some shit and then he goes "kill em". I personally dont think either one is superior but storytelling is different across mediums and also across time periods.

How would that scene not easily be adapted? It doesn't even require much budget? I feel like am losing my mind sometimes when people try and tell me very simple elements from comics "can't" be adapted. It's not like pic related which literally cannot be adapted to cinema.

I do feel like this is a bit of stretch.

Remember when the sheriff keeps going on about "martian niggers"? Or when he shoves his own dick up ass and kills himself? Or how any time arseface shows up, everybody's either laughing at him or throwing up?

Buuuuuuuutttttttt..... idk i just feel they had some time to think about it and adapted it to the commonly accepted televisiony multiple-subplots every-scene-cliffhanger type thingy well.

it's not about directly adapting the exact elements of the scene, some people want to capture the feel and mood.

I'm really all for adapting the source material as close as possible, but I do acknowledge that these mediums convey information/mood in ways that aren't commonly understood.

Right so they jammed a square peg into a round hole. I don't even need a shot for shot remake, I'm fine with cutting things even changing things sometimes, it's the complete change of tone and style that is ridiculous. Preacher is at its core an Americana Road Story and Fantasy Neo-Western, they turn it into a drama with supernatural action elements. That is the problem. I also just think adaptations of stories and characters that are singular and unique like Preacher in comparison to ones like Superman and Batman who have had many iterations is just destined to fail.
