I watched my grandma become a hoarder. She is sweet but literally NPC tier. Growing up I noticed she would save everything, christmas she would have cardboard boxes that have been reused for decades, all her christmas wrapping paper stock came from the 70s and she keeps reusing it. If you asked for a drink she'd bring you a coke that was at least 5 years expired. She'll buy things at the store just because she had a coupon, even though she had no use for it. When that extreme coupon show came out she got really serious into it buying useless shit and brag about how she got her whole shopping list for less than a dollar, then it all ends up in a box somewhere never to be used. She is a good cook, but keeps leftovers for MONTHS at time in the fridge or freezes it. Instead of cleaning out her fridge regularly like a normal person she got a 2nd fridge.
Anyway she remarried a dude who was into "antiques and collectibles" i.e. more useless shit and together they managed to turn the backyard into a junkyard and entirely fill the house with more boxes (all of it a "temporary" storage solution, of course).

Also my literal boomer parents come close to being full blown hoarders, it's a bit under control now but there's still junk and crap and useless things all over the place the house is an embarrassment but at least we're able to like go up and down stairs without tripping over a pile of magazines or use the washrooms without a problem. There's just something about boomers who mostly grew up in poverty with 9 siblings that makes them unwilling to throw out most things.

Yep been my life since age 8. My mom also gives me chinese supplements to make me less of a loser and it just makes me wet the bed but even when I threatened to kms she made me take them cause she went berserk so I just take them I don't care anymore.

my mom is close to this but not quite into full on hoarding mode. She was always something of a pack-rat but it wasn't too bad until my dad had a stroke and all of us kids moved out. She refuses to think something is wrong cause her mom was the same way so she thinks it's normal
