its an interesting show. it is not exempt from anime faggotry, but it is a bit different from the others in terms of the actual story. The main characters are all the worst people in the world, all egotist who think they know better even at the ripe age of 10, and they never learn better.

But the sense of dread the show provides is pretty great. Battles become more boring when one of the characters gains the ability to turn into a titan, cuz at that point its just two naked people wrestling

as far as anime goes, its great though, and with only 4 seasons that means you're not being forced to watch anything too drawn out the way most anime are these days.

this show is awful

Season 1 is the weakest from a storytelling perspective. It got hype because it was gory and had a bombastic soundtrack and great action sequences. All spectacle without much apparent substance. This is cause the first few arcs are narrowly focused on simple objectives and tightly follow the main cast who are largely ignorant about the larger political situation.

Season 2 onwards actually opens up the setting more and you start to uncover political intrigue and mysteries of the setting. There's still violence and action, it's just further spaced apart and there's a lot more talking and character interaction given focus in S2 onward. There was also a huge gap between between S1 and S2, about 4 years, which caused a lot of the hype for it to burn off. The shift in tone didn't help either.

The final season is being done by a different studio and new staff, because the original studio that did all the previous seasons didn't want to work on it anymore for various reasons. So a lot of the criticism you see hurled at the final season is related to that changeover and people scrutinizing the differences in style. The new studio, Mappa, have done a pretty good job preserving Studio Wit's take on the manga's distinct art style though, so it's not like the final season is way off.

They are doing the same thing FMA: Brotherhood did and ending the anime series at the same time as the manga. The manga is in its end game now, and they're going to time it so that the final episode of the anime comes out the same week, if not the same day as the manga's last chapter.

Maybe if they actually got to the plot. Im 10 episodes into season 2 and the amount of content for this season is maybe 2 episodes worth. Its like dbz, it needs an abridged version.

S1 was worse with the 5 min recap at the start of every episode. Plus that one episode where the entire runtime was the garrison deciding whether they were gonna execute eren.

just because other shows have bad animation doesn't negate the fact that this show has bad animation. also bad pacing, bad twists, and stupid tech. some of the visuals are cool as stills, but that's it

At least we only had one recap episode (other recaps are only in the form of OVA) but it's still not like them to just remove so much material but every source only says that it currently has 16 seasons like they're expecting a mid-season break and a second part.
